Digitone II v1.10 Overbridge usage?

Release notes say Overbridge support for streaming to Daw/computer. No plugin shows up in the Daw for Digitone II so not sure how to use it. Anyone know?

Thanks.
Jim

dig into all the other overbridge explanations for digitone , digitakt etc etc , theyre all the same…digitakt 2 is probably closest due to the amount of audio channels (ableton cant do all of them atm … it stops at 16)

the standalone plugin hasnt been released , theyve only enabled overbridge streaming…
ensure you put usb mode into overbridge mode too.

if you post which daw you are using you’ll get lots of help on here if you cant figure it out… many people have been through the same thing.

Thanks! I forgot to change the audio interface on the DAW, when I did it showed (42 in and 8 out) for Digitone II. Thanks.
Jim

Is there a big performance difference between enabling all of the I/O vs only what you need?

Maybe an Ableton Live on Mac specific question

I don’t know yet I have not tried it yet.

Hi everyone, I have updated my Digitone 2 to the latest update (1.10) and also Overbridge to 2.18.5 as I am eager to use Overbridge via Ableton 10 (I have the latest update for this also). However, whilst I have updated Overbridge, Digitone 2 does not show up as a VST in Ableton. I checked the VST 3 folder and for some reason the VST3 file for Digitone 2 is not in there, despite the update. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the new Overbridge and it still doesn’t show up in the vst folder. My Digitakt and Syntakt works fine in Ableton and they are both in the folder post Overbridge update. I’m running Windows 10 Pro. I’m really struggling with this and would really appreciate your help in resolving the issue. Thanks.

That’s because they haven’t released the Overbridge Digitone 2 plugin yet. I think Elektron created some false expectations using the term Overbridge in the marketing for the new update. I too thought we’d be able to stream all the tracks into the DAW without having to use the Digitone as an audio interface. But it seems like that will not be possible until they finish the plugin, which is in beta testing now. So until then, I believe the only option is to set the Digitone as your audio interface in Ableton or aggregate your interfaces somehow.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

On Windows, if you want to use your sound card in your DAW and also stream via Overbridge you need some sort of ASIO aggregation software (I think it’s easier on Mac?). I use Inject, which is usually stable with Overbridge but less stable with other ASIO devices.

Thanks, if correct, this explains everything :facepunch:

macOS has it built in, but it’s janky. You can use the software Loopback to combine as many audio interfaces as you you want to create a virtual one (or multiple, if you want to switch it up with different devices). Audio out is also possible to multiple interfaces, which makes for an easy Send FX or “I’ll route everything into a sampler” setup. You can even route sound from apps into wherever you want. Not working there, just really like the software, because it made my life so much easier and got rid of gazillion of cables. Latency is really low, btw. Again, macOS only unfortunately.

I have an Ableton template set up with DNII as my interface with a separate audio track for each DNII track, but each track is coming through as mono despite me setting up the stereo pairs in Ableton’s I/O setup. Ie the Pan setting on the Amp page doesn’t do anything.

Does anyone know if this is expected? I could be wrong but I remember using the separate plugin outputs in the OB plugin for other elektron’s and getting a stereo feed for each track.

I haven’t tried this pseudo overbridge yet but as far as I know it’s normal that you can’t set the pan from the DN, you can do it on Ableton. Are you sure the tracks are mono? When you play a track on Ableton do you see the level rise with a single green bar?

The Ableton tracks are stereo, the audio coming from the DNII is mono (ie both L and R channels are the identical).

So, if I want to record an existing pattern from my DNII, I’ll have to repan everything in Ableton.

I’ll have to pull out my DTII and double-check, but I remember the separate outs from the OB plug-in being stereo and pan settings therefore being retained.

EDIT: OOO, I figured it out! I must have accidentally changed the “Pre/Post Fader” setting in Audio Routing to Pre. I think this passes the audio before the pan/level settings on the AMP page. I changed it back to Post and am now it is working as expected

Probably something dumb, but I’ve been trying to figure out why I have no sound coming out in Ableton for hours now, here’s my setting:

Anyone has an idea why I’m not getting anything?
I can see all the inputs listed on ableton but they all dead silent…

That looks correct to me. If you change your output device in Ableton to also be DNII, does that change anything? It shouldn’t, but I was curious if having a separate Out device might be messing up something with the Elektron driver.

Is the overbridge engine hardwired to 48k now? I usually do all my projects in 44k and if i remember correctly this wasn’t a problem with overbridge an DN1. Does anyone have an insight? Or am I mistaken and remember it incorrectly?

Hey All,

I updated my Logic Elektron recording template to allow for recording of individual tracks from the Digitone II. It uses external instrument tracks.

You will need to select the DN2 as your audio interface for inputs in the audio preferences.
