I made 2 very different beats, both if which need some more sprinkles.

Ill make a third one and choose which one to send this weekend.

Is it only one submission? Or as many as we got?

One per person.

Got it!

Agreed - use everything at your disposal. Any “purist” stuff is more of a reflection of your own inner critic giving you excuses for not having fun and putting yourself out there

It is done… finally.

This was superhard to settle on something I like.

It’ll do, pig.

Done and submitted! This battle forced me outside of my comfortzone, but I’m happy with the end result. Can’t wait to hear all your submissions!

Im strung out… i just put in about 6 hours straight on this… I was in the zone… BUT, Im at the stage that i can’t tell if its trash or fire. (Dumpster fire?)

I mean its definitely interesting to say the least.

Dont listen to it again, just submit it haha

That way you’ll be surprised by how amazing it actually was once you hear it in the playlist.

If you need a few more hours or whatever just let me know.

More submissions = good.

I had 5 in so far.

Got a rough arrangement for mine, but still needs lots of work.

Oh, I submitted before talking.

I learned, if I talk about the track, I’m not working the track.

Great advice though.

Just send it!

Hope you’ll get some more, but at least there’s enough submissions to battle it out!

This was a challenging battle for me… as someone above said, Nile’s tracks are quite full and finished sounding which makes it hard to turn it into something new. Also: very 80’s sounding, which is not what I usually go for.

I love this though, the battles that taught me the most were the ones where the theme/rules forced me to make music in a way that I usually dont.

I got so much Roland. I started with the keytar, then the TR8S. Followed by mc101, because it had the same but WAY more tones than the keytar, and it’s easier to navigate.

So I know these sounds. Plus Im 46, so I grew up as these sounds were invented!

You are right though. These are very 80’s sounding and Niles doesn’t leave alot of space to add, so I just let him lead, and I followed. I followed the rules, and it’s skirting the edge of hip hop, but I don’t have any control over what I make.

Im just along for the ride.

Just sent mine in

Just sent in mine. I’ve always wondered why using acapellas is usally not allowed in these battles, to me the whole point of making hip hop beats is how you make a vocal track shine. Rest assured if I ever win, full verses of vocals will be required lol
