EPK=Electronic Press Kit Help

Hi guys.

I need an EPK for my band and I been searching the internet for a template etc for this. I´m looking to create this without having to pay fees or a monthly rate and be able to ad the EPK to our FB or send as a link in an email. There´s a lot of sites offering this service but a lot of them are charging something(we´re broke due to paying for everything else eg. recording, mixing, mastering and equipment)

Do any of you guys have any recommendations or/and thoughts on this topic? then please share…

Thanks

Epk always seems like a scam from the little Ive heard/seen? Like a means to pay cash to apply for stuff. Does anyone legit even ask for them? I guess if there’s a free Epk service then it probably can’t hurt to use one. But I thought it was a paid thing?

Bandcamp/soundcloud/Facebook/blog/website seems to be just as valid for any ‘real’ opportunities (ie. Those you don’t have to pay to enter etc). In fact I’d say a lot of labels might even be turned off by someone sending/having an Epk?

I don’t really know what I’m talking about tho. Maybe it’s a useful thing to have for getting your music around/booking shows?

Hi Callofthevoid.

Yes I second what you say and really loath the whole sonicbid system too, been there done it and didn´t get anything out of it other than paying out.
It´s still nice to be able to send a link that provide everything from music, vid, bio etc.in 1 go and I was just curious if anyone knew a good way to do this as we´re already on the FB, SC, BC +.

Anyway thanks for your input though.

cheers

Maybe make one of those free websites then you can just link that? None of this kind of stuff really worth doing tho unless it adds something (ie. You make your mark on a website etc and it expresses your aesthetic etc)… Otherwise Id say just send a link to your music, if someone likes it they’ll figure out the rest or get in touch…

If you already have a website (and/or somewhere to upload it) Vlambeer’s presskit() is nice.

I have a page on muzeek. It’s pretty sleek. It got me a gig in Idaho and the event coordinator gave it positive feedback. I’m pretty sure muzeek fixed their mobile version too…

gr8 input guys, I´ll be looking into this today.

Thanks
