Erica Synths Bassline DB-01

I wonder the same thing ! I know I’m quite a while later, but did you ever find out ?

Just as a little update, I’ve noticed that a couple of bits of text have now rubbed off, and not even in high use areas.
It’s not a massive issue, but there do seem to be weak areas in the screen printing that weren’t immediately apparent.

Just have to keep my nails nice and short, I guess…

That’s not good, it’s not like it’s cheap

Yeah, it seems to mostly be the printing at the top, with all the in and out labels. The printing around the knobs seems fine.

Hey DB-01 owners, have you tried the new firmware update?

https://www.ericasynths.lv/news/bassline-107/

It came out yesterday.

You can now receive program change messages through MIDI.

Edit: I didn’t get it working initially due to a wrong setting on my DN.
Edit 2: Actually, I can only change pattern within the current bank, but not change bank. Is this working for anyone else?
Edit 3: Or rather, I can change to any pattern in bank A from any other pattern, but can’t change to a bank that is not A.

Cheers, hadn’t spotted this.

Also adds phase offset and much slower rates to LFO. Nice.

I’m definitely grabbing a DB-01 to complement the Digitakt, the sequencer looks inspirational and the sound is gorgeous - squelchy and rubbery, thick and solid or anything in-between. That triple decay saw thing is really cool as well. Nice product.

The update that you linked to says that patterns in other banks can be accessed by using MIDI Bank Select messages in conjunction with the Program Change message. This seems like bad design given that the unit only has 128 patterns.

Also, the DB-01 documentation doesn’t currently appear to say how the Bank Select is implemented (MSB? LSB? both?). Some DB-01 owner is going to have to try out sending Bank Select messages with Program Change messages to the unit to find out how it works.

I impulse bought one of these the other day because it was on sale for around 25% off the retail price here in Australia.

I was initially disappointed when trying to use it as a 303, but quickly got over that when I realised how far it can be pushed (audio rate LFOs!!).

It actually reminds me a bit of Nanoloop in terms of being able to cram a kick and a bassline in one track. So much fun. I could probably play a whole set from this and a delay pedal.

Wheres the sale?

Lots of stuff on sale, sometimes still more expensive than places like Found Sound or Store DJ, but in this case, I managed to get the Bassline for around $200 less than Found Sound’s price.

Thanks! I’m skint, but nice to daydream. Erica stuff is awesome.
When Ive got a job again, a DB01 and zen delay are high on my list.

Yeah, honestly as soon as I clicked “buy” I kinda thought I should have gone for the Acidbox instead, haha. Or the Pico System. No regrets though

I’m kinda obsessing about the acidbox at the mo…

I just picked one of these up, and damn, its audio signal comes out HOT. I’m running it to the inputs of my digitone and I’m wondering if anyone else has found an optimal configuration for levels? should i turn the input level on the digitone way down, the volume level on the db-01 way down, or a combination? the db-01 is sounding a lot noisier and more metallic on my system than i’ve heard on a lot of demos.

on a related note, i have an eventide timefactor and a tc HoF reverb pedal collecting dust on a shelf - do you think those will help me get softer sound vs. the DN’s internal effects?

I LOVE my DB-01, that being said - a lot of the text is now gone from my unit.

I’ve been pretty lucky, mine only seems to be problematic around the top, haven’t lost any text from around the knobs.

Yet.

There’s a lot of gain on the Digitone inputs. I typically have the gain below a quarter when running a synth into it.
