My lego loving kids just discovered ‘Brick Borrow’ https://www.brickborrow.com/
Is anyone doing ‘Gear Borrow’? I’d sign up in an instant…
There was a guy who posted something a few months ago about trying to start up a service like this, I’ll look for the thread.
That was @Ess
I have lent gear to people many times over the years and it has nearly always come back fucked in some way.
There was also this thread:
Which doesn’t look like it amounted to anything, but also I believe there is mention of some other places which do have gear lending services.
yeah hard to see how the brick borrow model could translate to expensive synths n’that but perhaps maybe if the manufacturers got onboard… i’m no businessman, i just like the idea of paying some sorta subscription for borrowing a bit of kit just to see how I gel with the physicality of the device
Ah ^ its already happening. Great stuff. Wish I lived in Berlin!
Where are you based out of?
I’m in the UK
I remember seeing something stateside that had a rather expensive rental service but I’m not specifically aware of anything in the UK, sorry friend.
Thomann and a several other retailers give you 30 days to evaluate gear, don’t gel with it, send it back, no problem.
Thats decent from Thomann
The only time I loaned instruments to someone
- He was a friend (at the time)
- It was a Moog Rogue and a Roland CR78
- Never saw them again
It was the late 80s I as still a stony broke student. Tough lesson to learn.
is that a change your mind thing or an actual evaluation service they offer?
DV27 also.
As long as you send it back undamaged, no problem. I had an Alphabase for a couple of weeks and sent it back with my reasons for not liking it and they refunded me.
Not sure if they call it an evaluation service but in reality it amounts to that.
