Debated on posting this in the hip hop thread or “that syntakt sound” but decided to go with the oft-regrettable dedicated thread post. Shameless and shameful all at the same time.
But anyways, it’s primarily produced by me on the syntakt w/ some added instrumentation. Claud Six is an amazing songwriter from Portland, OR and this is our collaborative project w/ him on rhymes, me on beats.
We are releasing new “episodes” (singles) every Friday for the next several months so I’ll just post them here and keep doubling down on the questionable space I’m taking up.
Music is cool because even when you’re sharing art that’s available for free, it still feels like a sales pitch. But whatever, I’m proud of this and hope some folks here will be briefly entertained if nothing else.
This is a brief departure from the Greenlit Series - a solo ep by me. 4 songs, just under 9 minutes. A bit of a sonic clusterfuck to mirror the headspace.
Still working on a lyric video for this joint but it’s mostly about cameras & privacy I suppose.
I think next week’s “episode” will be the first song on the project not primarily produced on Syntakt. More on that next week. Appreciate those of ya’ll taking the time to check these out!
Production wise, this is the first one off the project that does not utilize the syntakt which I guess I should be transparent about since I categorized this thread as ST related. There will be one more track a bit later down the release schedule that was mostly made on the ST and some sounds from it pop up on a couple other tracks. Our first 3 songs were syntakt jams with a little additional instrumentation.
For this single (and quite a few of the ones to come), I mostly used the Synthstrom Deluge.
This week’s episode is a short little rant/anthem (ranthem? New genre alert!) about Spotify, monetization thresholds, and bot playlists. Tighten those party hats…
A somewhat unconventional rhyme scheme but as far as the subject matter goes - I’m sure you can hear songs about trying to fix household appliances while questioning traditional gender roles all over the radio and in the clubs, right?
