Halloween Music?

Have a show tonight doing all Halloween based music…anyone else do music for Halloween?

My most liked comment on here probably makes it obvious that I’m into this sort of thing:

Used to release concept EPs of songs every Halloween.

Like the uneasy timing of this one a lot btw. Good work.

I watch a lot of horror/scary movies around Halloween. One of my favorite scores The Shining. The opening shot is so cinematic, and that ominous music is the icing on the cake.

Good luck!

I don’t anymore, but two of my best friends and myself used to do a DJ event at a combination skate shop/bar in Tokyo every Halloween for a while and that was super fun. My cousin used to play drums in a Misfits cover band in NYC every Halloween, which I always thought was a great idea.

Funny, one of the bands tonight is a Misfits cover band

I’m going to delight parents and confuse children on my block.

Planning-

  • Lyra-8
  • Space Cat Dub Siren
  • Noisy Mic 2
  • solenoid-struck percussion (bonus, if I get the rest done)

All backed by a circuit bent jhorror loop running on a large crt, and some small interactive lighting

I should buy a portable PA and do a DJ set of only Torque records.

This thread reminded me of these old Halloween horror stylophone videos. I need to remember to sample some drones from mine into my Roland P-6.

I think this thing is kind of underrated for drones and dub siren effects.

That’s awesome!

I got one as a Christmas present maybe 2-3 years ago and it’s actually a pretty cool little synth. I don’t think they ever caught on, and I never hear anything about them, so maybe they can be had for cheap these days.

A few years ago I started doing spooky-themed dnb tracks for Halloween (fun because I don’t normally make dnb). Here’s this year’s, which samples a terrifying British public information film from the 1970’s:

And last year’s was a cover of the Stranger Things theme:

À few years ago I started a collective album for Halloween among workers at the place I was employed, the rule was to use at least one sample I made off Night of the living dead, with my digitakt.
Not a lot of submissions but still it was a nice thing to do. Mine is the last one. (with some digitone too)
