Salute u, hardtekno like-minded person!
I have AR, and I’m working on creating drums and percussion.
Right now, I’m some difficulties with synthesizing kick. There is little attack and not so punchy.
I guess it’s because the compressor is not set up correctly. But there must be something else going on.
I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice!

Not that hardtekno is specifically my thing but I often use layering to get my kick right on my AR MKII.
Try combining the synthesized kick with a sample. It can be a bit counter-intuitive but I get best results from using two very different sounds that do not overlap audio frequency or duration too much.
One sound could be the attack another the sustain or one sound could have the attack and sustain with the mids/body of the kick scooped out with eq or filters. Or to put it another way you want to additively get the sound you want without the two sounds clashing or phasing. Phasing at low frequency (bass and sub-bass) is particularly common.

Experimentation is key.

I have no idea what hardtekno/tribecore is but I’ve come across some youtube channels in the past of people doing fast distorted techo with rytm/a4 and other devices, so just sharing in case it will benefit the thread

https://www.youtube.com/@ZBald

I can’t find the other ones I’ve encountered, maybe it was taken down…

try adding filter envelope, find a spot in the frequency and use the envelope to add punch or click, also play around with the lfo to tune, the exponential waveform can add fast clicks/punch and sawtooth can add body/bass tail shifts…

but imo don’t get hangup on it, if you can’t find a good punch for your load up some highpassed samples and just use them for the higher frequency parts, use the BD machines for lowend, you can obviously also combine BD machines and resample them to create your own samples, if you focus on creating a single sample you can use the master distortion/compressor to create the samples and then ease them back for the whole mix after re-sampling. you can also use the delay/reverb to sample rumble tails and whatnot…

The heavy ritual kid is allright, I have chatted with him on youtube. He is into Tekno with a K or Freetek or…
Him and his mates look like they are having a great time with their music and the free tekno party scene in Italy/France/Spain.

They also play a bit of modular and some other elektron gear.

I like following small medium producers on SoundCloud. You get raw energy that often gets lost as people gain success, produce and overproduce their work. I think as they get more successful most people over compress their music into a wall of sound to gain volume on streaming platforms…

but I digress,

Similarly this guy has a few videos on youtube that are A4/AR centric (I just can’t get with Gary P Hays voice narration & style). So he is an alternative.
A video on using samples in on an AR

and a video on layering hardstyle kicks

another guy showing how he does his Hardtek kicks

No wrong or right way, just what you like.
I am still always learning but: I like to use my A4 for my Tekno kicks (where the kick drives the melody 150-170bpm, less distortion, kick goes whollop, and the AR for techno. More distortion 140-150bpm and the kick goes whack/crunch). On the A4 I tend to use two overlapping sounds* to get what I want, one low passed and the other band passed.

*that is two sequencer lanes just for the kick and I dont use the A4 for anything else, this might not work for you.

there was another french guy doing very cool stuff with rytm mk1 but I can’t find him, all I remember is that he was playing standing with some sort of Jasper stands and his synths were dirty AF because he was playing a lot outside raves and probably never cleaned his gear

hehe… yeah heavy ritual gets chewed out in his comments for smoking and drinking while he plays, bah-give it a rest I recon, he is having fun, it’s his gear… I did plenty more dumb shit at his age than that, so I am not going to judge.

oh man, this is nothing like that french guy I’m talking about, he had like layers of 2cm dust on his devices, they were so dirty looked like he played a night on the moon and came back home and immediately started recording stuff

for sure, the man paid for his gear he can do whatever he wants with it, it’s not like he’s trying to sell it to someone lol

Only losers and people selling second hand gear to me need to have smoke free studios

Sorry i was busy last time and i was not more looking here…
I will be happy to help… Maybe will be more easy with some Kind of App like Telegram or so.

I m do this also frequently… But i prefer the analog machine alwasys… I m using mostly the sample in loop Mode very short cutted to add some puncy effect… But the decay Attack, overdrive, resonance and frequency of Filter… Also with, Sound Attack, lenght, octave… So is not a fixed rule how i do that… But i can suggest if you are like ne not Sound engineer… Just listen lot of music and understand by yourself what and how use the Parameter, effects and Sound machine… Study also about Sound Design is very important… But if you want to understand by yourself you can get some good stuff… But take more time and maybe you löst also time😊

This is an example of what i mean for hardtekno

I like the early 2000… I m not go out of 180bpm… Clean Sound… Most drum and Hypnotic synth with heavy Bass line…

This is a French guy… I Support him… He is very skilled in my opinion

Glad to find this niche in this forum
I’m into tribe/hardtek and have an A4/DT/DN but currently I don’t use A4 because I’m unable to get nice sounds… kicks? percs? melodies? I just can’t, probably an effort/time related problem.

ANYWAY! I’m using DT for percs & vox/fx and DN to get awesome kicks+bass - it’s a terrible hardtek killer combo.

Here some of what I’m currently working on:

Clean kick+bass

A straight oldschool classic distortion kick, a basic!

Hallo to All… Sorry if i answer late… I m actually work on a liveset… I m pretty out of social life… And social network as well hahah… I not know… I m very happy with a4… Honestly i was using just a4… But the 4 Channell was a very big problem… I m not into lot of Channell and Chaos… I like clean and hard Sound not confusion… So at first i was just sampling a4 into ableton… As a synth in my opinion you can do what you want… Of course always related to the Hardware component itself… But i have done very wicked kick drum line, Bass, perc, lead, chord and so on… Now i use it as slave into rytm… I love Them both… A4 you have to push her hard… Like osc, Filter env… Lfo… Arp as well… You will have wicked stuff for sure…

This are just some cut for audio test they are not yet finished and short pattern too… In the second Clip i also push stop Button as fault … But i love the a4 melody… Kick for rytm are brutal… Keep Them cool and hard but without let Them Sound shit take lot of time hahaha

This one is pretty mastered… Maybe not yet Perfect in Sound Power and cleaness but close… For my Taste of course

About A4… Personally i love this machine… For real… Is for Real the perfekt one for rytm… In my opinion of course… For get cool Sound with a4 i have no fixed rules… But for sure micro timing is a must… Togheter with envelops and osc settings, Filter, note lenght, scale … The other Parameter are for sure important… But for me the big differenfe is with this… Also lfo… But i m not so big big fan of lfo… But is also play is rule… As arpeggiator too…
I can share some cut taken from the set i m working to… This is far away to be finished but something is maybe possibile to understand about A4 and rytm with hardtekno

I have used only a4 for some Years… Is a synth i do very brutal kick line… Perc and so on… But the 4 Channell is a good Trick from elektron to let you but other Gear :heart:… I used a4 with ableton ( as a sampler and mixer) in order to have more channell… But i m no more into Digital Gear… Also record the maschine with Sound card let me feel a traitor hahaha… But i do just to listen how the Sound is on other Sound System, or Gear… Also if i live in Berlin i can t test the machine in my Apartment with right Sound System :see_no_evil:

I was wondering… What s about… Do a Kind of little collab between us… ( hardtekno lovers, fanatic or just interessed to)… Some Kind of sample Group where we can share togheter and help us togheter to get Sound how we dreamed?
Is just an idea… Feel free to say all about that…
I not mean share our private track, live or so… Just do a new common project somehow
