Is it possible to make some kind of Elektron multi usb Host device, with several analog I/O (8/8+) with flexible mixing/summing/routing setup for both audio & midi,
And elektron sequencer to control all of it?
that’s pretty much half of tonverk speculation thread
I didn’t saw the usb inputs in the pics
there’s 2 usb-c in the pics, that’s why the host speculations started
and the audio buses could mean internal mixer for audio over usb
anyway, there’s bunch of messages on the topic in there
Don’t use overbridge here but surprised no one has done a DIY version of this with a raspberry pi and the overwitch jack client. The problem is you’ll have double latency if you go in and then out again. But if the latency is pretty good a raspberry pi paired with an audio interface with lots of outs should work?
I think this is too niche a product for them to actually release themselves. There aren’t enough Elektron users to build an expensive addon device that only a tiny portion of them will use. All the other devices work standalone and don’t get any special features if paired with other Elektron devices.
What would be better is if they could somehow make the class compliant usb audio send more channels so you could just plug it into an MPC or anything. But that’s probably impossible? Even my RC600 which can send many channels or two requires special drivers for the many channels version. Maybe what we need is a new USB software standard for this sort of thing.
Don’t reveal the truth so fast !
No one should still know
Didnt somebody make this a couple of years ago? Worked with Digitakt and Digitone if i remember correctly.
If it will be able to host not only elektron devices but any usb audio/midi device that you plug to it, it can bring a lot of new non Elektron users.
But that will be harder to create.
That’d need a better usb audio standard. And once we have that you won’t need the device! Maybe Elektron should do the Propellerhead / Steinberg / Abelton / Dave Smith etc type thing and make this open standard.
Yeah I just heared recently from a friend of mine, that somebody made a rapsberry pi run overwitch and then made breakouts of audio outputs for it, not sure about latency though or the legitimacy of the whole thing
Any old laptop or Mac mini will do this with a multi-out audio interface. Not as portable as a single box but 100% there on functionality
You mean individual output jacks per track? Cause that would be sweet.
Yep
Maybe not totally what you’re after but I’m waiting for this, which looked promising at Superbooth:
https://www.modularaudiotools.com/
Yep It cant host several usb devices,
But it looks promising
Here is a link to the project someone did. So it is possible.
Wow
