An actual idea:

use slots with trig quantisation to launch phrases in sync and you can have effects-tail-preserving-mutes - 2 kinds:

empty slot = instant mute

Silent sample in a slot = quantised mute

I use it quite a bit
One page of slots - last two (trig buttons 15&16) for the two kinds of mute
