I was considering a Moog Grandmother but ended up with a Matriarch

I felt like this about my Matriarch, which was why I lent it out for a while.

Before it went on a vacation I very rarely used patch leads with it… I would just find sounds I liked without feeling the need to start patching.

In the time I’ve had away from it I’ve been focussed on my Sub37, Polybrute and Prophet 6, and I feel like my understanding of synth sound design/architecture has come on a lot.

Getting the Matriarch back, all of a sudden all the patch points make sense to me and it’s opened my eyes to the possibilities the Matriarch has… it’s just such an organic, beautiful instrument to make sounds/music with.

I’m thinking I might borrow my friends GM to use them side by side.

I imagine if you feel like you have a good handle on the Matriarch, the GM must feel simple/instinctive to move to. But, it’s not the same in reverse I guess??

I think youre right about this. The GM is fairly easy to use, and works like a typical mono even without patching anything. It’s a giant sweetspot soundwise though, and adding a bit of spring reverb makes everything sound great.
