Introducing Analog Heat +FX

@AdamJay Can the LFOs modulate delay time, etc? I always want that on the Digis.

whatā€™s in a name ?
  • AH+FX
  • AHFX
  • AFX (spoiled vote, taken!)
  • AH+
  • AHX
  • AX (early front runner, ruled out)
  • AH3

You can modulate just about anything, except only FLOW order afaict !!!

Thatā€™s wild. I LOVE the digi delay and reverb (I even recorded an IR of the digiverb to use in Ableton), but often I would like to modulate them, like you can do with the Moog Matriarch.

Pot noodles are surprisingly expensive in the US, I do miss being able to grab one from the corner shop for a quick lunch.

AHX is cool and all. But what do we do when AH Mark 10 comes out?

thankfully we didnā€™t get

ā€œDigitakt+Songmodeā€ ā€¦as a whole new purchase.

Nor a few months later
ā€œDigitakt+SongMode+SampleMachinesā€

I guess the Heat Mk II just wasnā€™t capable of these new features ā€¦ hopefully not a precedent though given elektronā€™s stellar firmware upgrade history.

Did Heat Mk II ever get any firmware upgrades? Midi or otherwise?

(would be happy to send my Mk II in for the ā€˜FX chipā€™ if it was possible!)

it gets named after a special destination ā€¦ AH:Cumbernauld or such-like :troll:niche

Certainly not.

Thereā€™s DSP considerationsā€¦.
AHFX has a faster CPU, more flash memory.

+FX not possible on MK2s, from a purely hardware perspective.

Yes yes yes!!!

How many delays do I already have, how many reverbs do I already have!? Would it kill someone besides Doepfer to give us Frequency Shifting??

Any of the instrument makers on this thread - is it that thereā€™s no demand for certain effects - @Elektron, is it that you had the Analog Heat +InterestingFX all ready to go but nobody wanted it? Iā€™ll tell you, Chorus - bleh, Reverb - bleh, Delay - bleh, FM - yes!, Ring mod - yes!

dude, frequency shifting is my number one request in hardware fx. the only thing ive found thatā€™s reasonable is Warps (and warps Parasites). obviously bode has a crazy expensive one, and im sure the doepfer is great but i need that type of Virus TI 2 level processing in a desktop format somewhere.

Iā€™ve almost pulled the trigger on a Korg Radias multiple times in current year just so i could have that kind of sound design functionality outside of my daw

i guess i could spend $2000 on a synth from 2005 tho

*EDIt: check out this topical piece of information

Will be interesting to see if people start sharing mastering presetsā€¦

HFX? AFX implies analog effects

I would still use the DAW in the context of mastering, because I find visual EQ work as the superior means timewise and I can target things like LUFS, all of which the AHFX certainly wonā€™t do. Part of the point of multitracking with Overbridge is also being able to target effects to single tracks, and not just as a group. Iā€™m definitely not inclined to give that up, because it would feel like a step backwards.

So maybe it would get you closer, but you could make the same argument for mixing properly on the devices themselves before you record. In my experience thereā€™s no such thing as a magical plugin (or hardware device for that matter) that will automatically master for you.

Funny the community here has nicknamed it the AHFX / awhfux!

Pressed rat and a warthog closed down there shop they didnā€™t want to ā€˜twas all they had got,

Selling atonal apples and analog heat and pressed rats collection of dog legs and feet

Messed with one of these for a bit and I have to say itā€™s a great piece of kit. I for one donā€™t think adding more I/O would have made it a better unit. Forget itā€™s called Heat+FX and pretend itā€™s called something like Elektron Mixbus. Analog saturation is the least important thing on this machine now. Custom signal FX chain orders and over 500 presets means you can have instant mix bus recall on all of your Dawless songs. Youā€™re about to see this thing everywhere.

oops, forgot to stipulate this was a reverse pole

currently we have the DGAF on the cards (sorta easy to remember if you think digi/analog/fx) :troll:

Yeah in this case the Heat+ could possibly replace my FX chain except for the limiter I use that has a loudness meter. When I record my tracks I just record the stereo outs of the DT or DN or ST or A4 before the FX chain, so Iā€™m used to not multitracking. Iā€™ve been messing around with a bunch of different plugins, but I always include some sort of compressor, an EQ, a tape sim and/or saturation plugin, and a limiter. In this case, replacing my plugins with the Heat+ could at best be exactly what I need (and having a standalone metal box is inspiring), or at worst be just another set of ā€œpluginsā€ with its own quirks Iā€™ll have to learn.
