Introducing Digitone II

Oh. Had missed this.
There doesn’t seem to be some dynamic allocation for MIDI voices (of the term is usable in such context).
So I believe you can have 16x16 midi notes…
Haven’t thought of pushing this.
But I don’t have 16 16-voice synth either

Have you?

Going to guess no since I believe it’s not possible on DTII either and they share the same sequencer. Would love to be wrong about this though if someone wants to correct me.

No, as always these macros and CTRL-AL cannot be recorded in the sequencer. For now at least.

Cool trick: you can add Keytracking to your list of macros! This one, somehow, gets captured in the sequencer

Nice nice. I prob have to pick DT2 or DN2. What’s in 2025, Analogue 8?

For me, the choice is very obvious.
I’m in DNII team with no hesitation. :fist:

Yes. Lend me your DN2 !

I have a midi monitor, and not far from 256 voices…

Yamaha QY 100, 16 tracks 64
voices poly
Yamaha DD65 32 voices
MPC 500 32 voices
GEM PRP6 32 voices
Micromonsta 2, 12 voices
Your DN2, 16 voices :content:

:3lektron: almost got me with this DNII, almost…Then I switched on the modx+ and got GAS freed instantly.
I’ll stay with DTII…For the moment…

How does voice allocation work on this?
Do you assign a number of voices to each track, or does it just allocate voices across all tracks as notes are played?

Also, I’m not fully read-up on these epic threads, was the Tonverk leak a prototype for this, or is that something different (or don’t we know yet)?

Same as DN OG: both!
You can lock a number of voice to a track, and even lock the same voices to a track, or let the voice bring dynamically allocated.

Nice, this doesn’t help my downsizing tho

It does for me.

I’ve sold a few boxes and got more focused on DNII, it feels real good.

OK Elektron, if you insist…

I’ll buy this DN2 right away!

DN1 is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, box.
While I love it, the track limitations often confined it to either synth or drum duties (used both at the same time of course but not without ninjafu) but the DN2’s expanded capabilities make it a straight powerhouse for both drums and synths at the same time, all in one box. Awesome.

A companion for the Digitone 2?

Can someone explain the Term Modular Workflow? Is it new to DNII? Any special routing audio or MIDI internally? Thank you

I asked earlier

It’s basically different sound machines , filter selection .
It’s not being able to patch everything to everything else , rearranging the audio pipeline etc

It’s also used on the digitakt2 spec sheet

None of these.
They started calling it that way with DT II if I’m not wrong.
The term is mostly a marketing statement in my opinion, but the idea they depict is that you can swap machines (or modules for marketing purpose) as you have multiple synth engine you could use as well as interchangeable filters, ans maybe later on the same will apply to the MOD page

Thank you for clearing up. Ok I thought I can route one track to the next like on analog 4 or Octatrack…wich I enjoyed for FX…

We can hope for more improvement in the future.

The DNII is not yet in people’s hands, seems to be the right time for a DNII feature requests thread I guess
