Is it true that there is no "SOLO"?

Just bought a second hand Syntakt…
i am just shocked to understand that there is no solo button for the tracks…
i am producing music since long time and always thought that MUTE / SOLO is the basic of mixing…never met any device without it…
or maybe i just understood wrongly? there is a way? a search for solo in the manual gets 0 results…

Hi, welcome to the forum. No solo. Just use mutes, that’s why you have more than one finger.

Or do more research before you buy something.

No Solo mode on Syntakt.

Digitone II and Digitakt II have Prep Mutes. Maybe this feature will be added in the next ST update?

There is no solo in Overbridge either…it seems quite snob to be honest…

overbridge is primarily audio streaming via usb and a patch editor /kit editor , its not a performance tool , … any midi commands / midi cc’s etc match the same as the device itself… (from what i’m aware).

perhaps people’s understanding of what overbridge is could be better explained , but its possible to load up the app and view it without any device plugged in .

there is a ‘solo’ function on the mixer page… i dont know if this is adressable via midi in any way.

i cant recall any elektron device with ‘solo’ though its been a while since i used my octatrack, rytm, a4, monomachine(sold it), machine drum (sold it)…

you could create a macros on a midi controller to solo (effectively muting all tracks except the one you want) in something like midi designer pro 2 on ipad… but you would basically be using 1 key to mute all the other tracks… its not stricktly ‘solo’ although achieves the same end result.

for me it was also a shock after the purchase)
I still don’t understand why this feature is not there…

there can be no excuse for not having solo. it is a basic and necessary option when working with multiple tracks for both editing and performance

shame on elektron!

Is this another case of ‘’ This user no longer exists ‘’ ?

One of my favorite things to do is run a glissando across Digitakt mutes.

BTW, Chico Marx was an absolute master keyboardist.

Rytm has it, you hit retrig + mute, OT lets you do it with Cue + trig when in mixer mode

I understand that this may sound rude and strange to some, and i’m a big fan of DT and ST which I have but I really don’t understand why I need so many body movements to edit one channel isolated from the mix…
not to mention that the ability to quickly select solo tracks for performance in real time simply disappears…

Is it really impossible to implement solo?

You think that’s bad.

Imagine how pissed off I was when I opened up the box and found out there was no cupholders!

Fuck you Elektron.

Fuck you.

I don’t see any analogy or reason for jokes here))
I’m absolutely sure that 100% of elektron users would like to see a solo mode, I bet

You are free to purchase any product from any other manufacturer that offers you the desired features.

I am also free to express my wishes as a user since I’m not asking for cupholders)

This is a very basic function - nothing fancy

There’s a feature request thread and a place to submit requests directly.

OP’s not wrong though. Solo is sometimes a handy feature, but thankfully it rarely is something one cant live without or work around

just think that silence is part of sound design…imagine how great it would be to be able to highlight an element or silence on the fly or make time-breaks without stopping the pattern…

No, it’s not a utility function, it’s must have! …many simply do not understand what opportunities this provides

or think further…so that the track plays ONLY IN SOLO mode and outside of solo it does not play with others…super opportunity for performance

Do you still think you don’t need it?
