Issues with PD Power bank

I followed the advice someone mentioned here to get the BlindSpot V2 PD cable:

And my power bank I think should be sufficient enough. It powers my MacBook Pro even:

But I’m getting nothing from my Syntakt with this combo.

According to Anker’s site, the power bank should put out 5V ⎓ 3A / 9V ⎓ 3A / 15V ⎓ 3A / 20V ⎓ 5A / 28V ⎓ 5A (140W)

Is it possible that this is wrong and it is not putting out enough amps?

I’d like to hear from someone who either has this specific bank and can recommend a cable OR has this cable and can recommend a specific power bank that works for them.

Any help is super appreciated!

12V is optional in the PD spec (it was only present in 1.0) and it looks like that power bank doesn’t support it.

If unsupported, I’ve found that PD triggers tend to output the next lower voltage - so you’re probably getting a 9V output which is not enough to power Syntakt.

Anker’s very latest power banks/adapters seem to have 12V support now, but the majority out there do not.

EDIT: I’ll add that buying a USB “power meter” for about $15 made it a lot easier to troubleshoot USB power issues like these.

This looks just like the one I picked up, but there may be better options now.

Dealing with PD power banks has been kind of a pain - especially if you want to power more than one device simultaneously.

Great, thanks for your help. I’ll think I’ll look into a new power bank that specifically has 12v PD output for the Syntakt. I don’t need it to power too much, just want to be able to program it away from my home studio desk.

Thanks for the response. So this cable should create 12v no matter the power bank?

That’s what I use for rytm & octatrack, which anker 737 is capable to power at the same time.

Great, thanks for the pointer. I’ll order one.

Just wanted to circle bank and thank everyone for their responses. I ended up trying the cable that @1AM and it works perfectly with my existing power bank. It’ll be nice to easily take my Syntakt away from the rest of my gear and focus on that for a bit.

I have read somewhere that most Anker power banks don’t support 12v for some reason. Seems a strange omission though, so is there some technical or other reason?

I got same cable, unbranded, approx. $3…purchase of the year.

I’m having trouble with my Analog Rytm MK1 using a PD power bank.
Interestingly, my Maschine+ works just fine with it, but my Rytm MK1 will boot up, all functions will work, but it won’t make any sound. It’s almost as if the analog engine in a device messes with the PD detection scheme.
