Korg Wavestate

They could have staggered the release SE, and then later the MKII.

I think this is the most honest though. Drop the MKI and then release what you have.

Donā€™t think thereā€™s much demand for (this) mk2. If only they had released a desktop version with the extra voices that would sell like hotcakes.

I guess the desktop kit should work with mk2 ?!

Literally this is all I see in the comment section of every video/thread. Korg is basically trolling at this point by putting out the SE rather than a desktop unit.

korg gotta do the needful and just partner with Tall Dog and get those kits mass produced with some korg capital

Maybe, maybe not. If any of the physical connections move a fraction, or more likely, any of the physical tie down points move, then it is a no-go. The second one is likely not the same, unless Korg explicitly decided to do so.

We likely will hear more from Tall Dog about this, in the near future. Very risky long term business they took on.

The matchox size screen is what caused me to sell mine a while back. Trying to edit on that thing gave me a headache after a while. I donā€™t have the eyesight of a 20 year old anymore

I donā€™t get it, a bigger screen wouldnā€™t have cost much more, and I would have gladly paid $20 more on the retail priceā€¦

Itā€™s even more hilarious on the SE.

I did not want to edit it in the librarian on a computer screen, may as well use the VST version and save a chunk of money in that case.

The ks campaign for the desktop conversion kit is over unfortunatelyand Iā€™m not sure there will be aditionnal runs, but I may have a try at a diy version if I find a cheap mk1 unit.

Tall Dog has stated that the desktop kits will be available for increased cost after the ks.

I feel the same way. Loved the idea of the WS, but hated editing it. Now, I have a dedicated monitor sitting right above my WS that I mostly use for WS, but also can use for editing photos when thatā€™s the task.

The main thing I use the editor for is editing the lanesā€“so much easier, and then adding macro controls. Once thatā€™s done, itā€™s easier and faster to manipulate the sounds on the WS itself. It actually works as a great combination.

Iā€™m currently in Japan and the SE are in stock. The exchange rate puts the price at about $1300 for Americans. Iā€™ll just check the unit in its original box as checked luggage.

Mate take advantage of the exchange rate. I came up on a super 6 in Korea during October 2022. The only thing I needed to do was use the American IEC cable when I got back home.

Nothing is super attractive to me except the Wavestate and NO foreign brands have the same savings, especially Udo (in Japan anyway, SK is probably different). I could be convinced to pick up a Jupiter XM or a full size MS-20 but the new korgs are much cheaper than a two year old Roland. But I did buy a new watch and a DMP and shoes.

Here it is. Itā€™s funny; pretty sure if I peel the mk2 sticker off it says Wavestate underneath it. Itā€™s about 300$ less here 447usd vs 740usd (with tax) than home so by the time I sell mine at around 500usd, Iā€™ll have been paid a small amount to upgrade.
Time to load all my patches onto it!
There were no SEs in stock I could walk out with today and I fly back in two days. Cā€™est la vie.

Just picked up an SE in Japan for about 900 GBP based on the JPY exchange rate and a summer sale price

Just a quick question - is there any way to create drum track (sequence) so that it keeps playing without holding a key and in that way, you can play keys on top of it?

I believe ā€œlatchā€ is per layer so you would just press that button for the layer with the drums and you can play the other three independently. I donā€™t have a wavestate anymore but I think that was the behavior.

Oh nice, thanks for your reply! I was thinking about getting Wavestate SE for live playing with the band, so that you could also do the drums with it. That would make setups and gigging so much easier. Probably have to test it first and wait to price a drop before pulling the trigger though.

So I thought about the full size Wavestate until I saw the price. Holy crap!

$2700CAD !!!

Meanwhile the Wavestate mk1 has been on sale for $700 CAD for a while. Donā€™t know why the pricing disparity for what you get.

61 keys with aftertouch vs 37 relatively crap keys without aftertouch

120 voice polyphony vs 64 (96 on the mk2)

Hard case
Those three stand out over my mk1

Much more solid of an offering over the mk1 I think

I still wouldnā€™t buy it personally but it does look more like what I think people initially expected
