Kurzweil K2700

“Kurzweil it’s the sound”

I love the sound of my k2600R and on pen and paper this seems like a power horse I saw this talked about in a sampler topic but this isn’t really a sampler it’s a synthesizer. Once your using the samples into the V.A.S.T system it goes way beyond what a traditional synthesizer can do. I’m really excited for it thought I wish they would make a rack version that looks better ! Also stoked for the 6 operator Fm and if I’m able to bring that into the VAST modulation.

I have a Kurzweil 2500R with the KDFX installed in a Gator Rack that I can’t get out of my house. It is so fcuking heavy and 90s I can’t even seem to give it away…

Already on the K2600 series, you could do FM. Back then a website named DLN Sound offered an FM sound pack.

Yes, the rack version weighs approx 11 kg. Still better than the key versions, which weighed 22 kg and 33 kg - as much as a washing machine.

I have the exact same situation with a K2000R. I’m sure it’s got caps in there the size of my fist, and one day they’re going to go and take the house with them.

Damned if doesn’t soundtrack as well as anything, though.

I’ve never paid much attention to Kurzweil’s synths but I just watched some of the Sweetwater’s demo of the K2700.

Very impressive and weird sounds that remind me a lot of Coil.

Oh dang yeah I’m gettin Fm tones out of mine already especially when you use the partials ! I’ll try and find my FM monster bass I accidentally made for my first patch but it was awesome ! But so far I’m making fm synthesis on mine without having any Fm samples ! It’s all about the VAST and funs!

Think you could still find those k2600r Fm patches ?

Videos of my fav kurzweil patches !

Trying to fuel a kurzweil obsession live topic thread ! Lol

I still have them, though they were not available under a free licence, so I can’t post them unfortunately:

You could always try to email the guy

PS: they are still up for sale and they are really worth it, used them live on stage, ace sound

V.A.S.T. is the Dark Souls of synth engines :stuck_out_tongue:
I have a 2500 at my parents house, always love digging in and seeing what nutty things I can pull out of it when I visit. Also have a KSP8 in my studio, one of the most incredible and interesting fx processors ever made

$50 ish. via ups. bill the buyer. i had that exact unit w/Sd card in place of floppy drive. should’ve kept it but i’m dumb. now the time has passed. VAST seemed elusive for me anyways… but the KDFX sounds sooo good. that’s a good sampler any way ya cut it.

UPS has never paid anyone for a lost package even when insured.

anyway… if i had time to confront VAST and didn’t have like a pile of things i need to get into i’d twist your arm into selling/shipping that to me.

Ahah good thing I’m a dark souls veteran! And play resident evil games on hard ! Anyways I love a synthesizer challenge ! General midi racks are hard too lol! But yeah def not hauling this thing to a show any time soon it’s so heavy ! Or maybe I will lol if it’s like the heart of my set.

What a monster!
