Latency in ableton using direct audio or Audio over USB

Hi all,
I’m experimenting with my setup. I noticed when I straight audio cable from DGT to my audio interface (focusrite) - I have almost no latency. Like 1 ms or so. With a 512 samples buffersize in Ableton.

When I switch to Audio over USB. And select the digitakt as input device in ableton. My latency goes up to 60 ms or so. Which kind of strange. I was actually expecting less latency.

I’m not using any Overbridge or something. And I had straight quantized beat in digitakt. I use a wavlink hub to connect my usb connection. Anyone else had this experience?
Greetings.

Arjan

Elektron instruments with USB audio are not low latency devices.
Your experience of a dedicated audio interface producing much lower latency performance is normal.

right! Already expected something like that. Annoying thing is that sometimes I like to sample from my digitakt. But found a way around it. By also connecting the usb cable. And create an aggregated output device in macos.

Just another question. While connection with audio to Ableton. When I record everything it is almost bang on with monitoring off in Ableton. But when I just play the instrument. It doesn’t follow the metronome exactly. I could fix the Midi clock slightly in ableton to get it in sync. But then the recording will be “pre-delayed”. What is your experience with that? I have delay compensation while monitoring etc. on in Ableton.
