It’s absolutely gut-wrenching to see what’s happening.
Wow, I’ve just watched a video, it’s scary as Hell!
The size of the flame, the speed they are moving…. Hope everyone is safe and correctly insured!
Seems like a close family friend’s mother’s house in Altadena and also the house a few doors down where my wife lived when I first met her have been burned down, along with the most of the neighbourhood.
(NB. We don’t live in LA, but in Europe, but have many longstanding connections to people there still and are watching aghast from afar).

This is so tragic. My heart goes out to all of you.
I’ve got cousins in Topanga. Fire is about 500m from their house, last I heard.
Was in LA in August on holiday from the uk, stayed at the Garland hotel, an amazing city and we met some amazing people, I feel for everyone affected by this terrible tragedy , cannot quite believe what I’m seeing on tv, places I’ve not long visited, stay strong and best wishes from me
The fires are too close and the smoke has become noxious. My family and I are leaving on the red eye to Chicago tonight, praying to have a house to come home to.
Where are you? I’m in Sherman Oaks right at the Castle Park, it’s getting scary with the new Woodland Hills fire.
Oh, that’s quite a number of you who are very close to ground zero then! Please take care. I hope they can start containing the fire asap.
Well, the good news is that the canyon is getting basically all the priority from the fire teams, possibly more than it really should be. Here’s hoping.
seeing these pets on their own in this disaster is difficult to watch
I hadn’t even considered this, utterly heart-wrenching. My sister in law was able to flee to Long Beach with her dog, but I guess a lot of pets may not have been so lucky. I can’t even imagine that horror.
I saw someone post a list of places that are taking animals in to shelter from the wildfires, from small pets to horses. I’ll try to find it.
Update: Not the one I saw, but LA County’s list.
also since this is a musician specific forum - MusiCaresRelief@musicares.org or 800.687.4227
The link I posted above to dieworkwear / the menswear guy has information about animal shelters. I updated my post with a preview screenshot. Please click through to see the details.
Welcome to Chicago! Sorry about the weather, the cold just landed about a week ago, and the snow came last night. BE VERY CAREFUL of black ice under the snow, on bridges and underpasses, etc.
If you are in need of relatively affordable warm clothes, check out Uniqlo. The warmest tier of Heattech long underwear is fantastic and may be enough to augment whatever you managed to bring with you. The Men’s Ultralight Down Jacket is still on sale for $70. I picked one up recently and was extremely warm wearing it and a wool t-shirt on a walk to the post office in 20F weather similar to today. The jacket seems a bit on the flimsy side, so if you expect to do a lot of walking with a backpack you may want to look for something more robust or toss something like a cheap rain poncho on over the jacket and under your bag straps.
There is a Chicago thread you may want to check out when you get some breathing room.
Thanks, that was the list my friend had posted elsewhere (but I hadn’t clicked your link… sorry !)
No worries - I’m not looking for credit, just trying to get information out to people who need it!
Totally; I was more thinking that if I’d clicked your link I’d have realised that the same and better information was already available. All good to keep on sharing these things in case someone needs them really.
Heartbreaking to watch the news and seeing people interviewed.
Reading through posts here sorry to hear about people’s neighbourhoods but glad to see everyone is safe.
