I must admit I like the fx selection and the feature set, quite nice for a small pedal.
Utility is also great! This could also be a great companion to an older, small sampler like Boss SP-202 or an 1010music Bluebox setup where space is limited.

This thing looks great.
Do any of the algorithms include a noise gate?
No noise gate in it to my knowledge, would be cool if they added that into the compressor…
Pedal version is pretty great, the encoder on it is nicer seeming than the ones they use on the eurorack modules, much smoother but still a little bit of click for accuracy… easy to set up the knobs to control something… quite a playable unit, maybe a bit lighter in options than some other multi fx pedals and you only run one fx at a time but some contain multiple modes and features. would be cool if at some point they did a sort of “five fx” thing like on the waldorf Q like a sample rate reduction, drive, chorus, delay reverb… obviously it probably couldnt be as deep as any of the individual options but it would fill the kind of FX chain gap that is missing in it.
Don’t think I’ve seen this posted anywhere yet, ALM have released a couple of the reverb algo’s from this as standalone plugins. They’re based on the Quadraverb and everyone’s Lexicon (I think…) and have an additional parameter each in comparison to the previous iterations. $10 for both plugins is a fantastic deal even if you have the algo’s in different formats. I hope this is the beginning of them making some of the other algo’s available in this format - just so convenient and quick to use. No brainer for me and I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled…
The MFX pedal just runs one algo/fx at a time right (like the module)?
Anyone wish we could chain up a couple without it being $369/per?
afaik the only way to do that is using vcv rack, which is nice to be able to do, but I don’t usually:
use a computer or daw, and much less run vcv rack, which I know is my problem, but I think it would be great to have it be a multiMFX pedal!
I’d love to be wrong here but I feel like if the chip could run multiple engines at once, they would make it so. But I do think it’s one of those dsp chips like the Spin FV-1 chip, used in a lot of multi effects guitar pedals and some eurorack modules, where it’s capable of doing a lot of different things but not at once, and within specific parameters (like for example, on the spin chip there’s only 3 modulatable parameters, I think the MFX can be 6).
Again, love to be wrong so open for corrections but based on what I was reading about when the eurorack module released that is what I understand to be the case.
oh I understand (conceptually), thank you for sharing more info!
I guess a bowl of chips is in order so I can make it a full multi-MFX.
Pretty sure MFX is on ARM of some sort, so probably a bit more juice than the spin chip. But yeah I think they are designing these algorithms to push the chip but they probably could make a multi fx algo of some sort like a basic reverb delay bit crush or something
Yeah it could be an ARM. I could have sworn someone said it was something more like a specific DSP chip but ARM also sounds right and the only real info is digging through other forums like MW or GS and I don’t feel like doing that lol.
But yeah, like the spin chip algorithms that’s probably what they would have to do, make an algorithm that combines different elements in a preset sort of way.
I do think, for whatever it’s worth, that the MFX chip does sound quite a bit better than spin chip effects I’ve heard. I even liked all of its effects more than the Empress Zoia reverbs and distortions and stuff. I know it everyone shares that opinion but it’s definitely a good unit and I’m ok that it’s one effect at a time.
Yeah I hate to say I have 2 in my rack and the pedal my go to algos are digi-pcm echo, ty-50 dymanics and squoval rezonator.
ALM have just released another two of the algo’s from the MFX as plugins… delays this time. And again a very keenly priced $10. Definitely in the it would be rude not to category…
Stereo: I assume the upper inputs/outputs are L and the lower ones are R? The upper input has the dot on it. It’s not really documented in the manual as far as I can tell… and it would be unconventional to have the R input and output be the top one I guess.
