MIDI Hub that is USB?

Are there any MIDI hubs that use USB instead of MIDI DIN? I know about the MioX series, but I was hoping for something in the MIDIHub or Retrokits size. It’d be great if I could find a small box to link all my USB MIDI devices together without needing my iPad for routing and such.

The retrokits rk-005 has a USB host port that can take a usb hub. Anything plugged into that hub gets sent everywhere else.

It’s no longer available, but perhaps the rk-006 can do the same trick?

Some of the devices listed here support USB hubs.

Looks like it can. Emailed them to find out of the 2 inputs only applies to MIDI DIN or if it’s also for USB.

Maybe the MuMidi HubLink?

DIY option with a Raspberry Pi

I haven’t tested either solution yet

I have a ZeroW somewhere. Maybe I’ll try it with that and a hub.

It’s a neat idea, but I absolutely hate devices with the plugs on-top, and it’s way more than I need. I had a MioXL I just got rid of, so I’m def. not trying to replace it with something of that size.

RetroKits RK-006 certainly supports USB hubs and routes MIDI between several USB devices.

Not really small, but this with a USB hub will do the trick, if you can get past the somewhat dense UI.

@slicetwo What about something like a BomeBox?
The usb host port supports hubs, and theres a plethera of other toys if you want/need them, including be your midi router.

I had a MioXL. It was great.

How many usb in can it do?

Akai MPC One

On a more serious note: If using Linux is not a dealbreaker for you, you could use a Rasberry Pi (or any other device capable of running linux…) for this task. You just need the Pi, a USB hub with as many ports as you wish and this script: Raspberry Pi as a "no hassle" Midi host - LinuxMusicians

The script will automatically connect all the midi devices with each other, so you only need to plug in the USB cables and set the channels accordingly.

Mode Machines Cerebel. There’s one on Reverb now, I believe.

I can use about 3-4 devices no problem using a pretty nice power usd hub.
But past that it runs into drop out issues and hanging notes in my setup

up to 5 AFAIK.
i tried myself 4 (two grooveboxes + two controllers) and it worked.

Cool. I took a look at the website editor. Looks like filtering is a bit basic. I’ve been using AUM for my midi filtering, and it’s pretty robust and flexible.

I’m the author of the first script
Works great for me with both a RPI 3 and a pi zero2w with a USB hub hat:

Hard to do more compact and cheap
