3.0 will be released in 2027
If weâre luckyâŚ
MPC 2, firmware 3.0⌠itâs all so pointless and devoid of meaning now that I know, thanks to the internet and uTube, that my modern MPC doesnât even sound good.
Thanks, stupid internet.
Who cares about the sound, all we want are the updates!!!
Itâs funny because people are so convinced of it, but in all the recent comparisons everybody says they both sound good, just different⌠Iâm pretty sure most people are actually sheep just pretending so people will like them.
My interpretation of that video: There are no serious competitors to MPC samplers and if the partial competitors donât wake up then they will be gone.
I donât know about being gone, I mean the digitakt is god and you canât gone god but you can definitely beef it up and put that new dt 2 out quick fast and in a hurry
seriously speaking the mpc and the elektron line are matches made in heaven imho and arenât really comparable⌠the mpc is a sampling beast of a beatmachine, while my digitakt is stripped to the bone when it comes to sampling but a master of condensed sequencer prowess⌠I wouldnât buy either one to replace the other it just wouldnât make senseâŚ
Okay so after talking alot sh*t about the mpc plugins Iâm want to install and run them, are you guys downloading the plugins to your internal drives or are you putting your plugins on sd cards⌠this would be for the mpc one and the mpc live 2?
Both are samplers, but;
Digitakt= instrument. MPC=workstation. Thatâs why they work together well IMO.
For plugin installation on the Live 2 (I canât say about the One), you just go to Menu and Plugin Activation, then download and install them there.
At least on the MPC One, for the FX plugins theyâre already a part of the OS that you try/activate in the settings menu. It was only the synth content that I installed to my SD card, I think. Or maybe it copied it to the internal from the SD? I canât 100% recall.
It was odd with the delay plugin, there was no âtrialâ available like the others and it didnât even show up in the list. It wasnât until I purchased and entered the serial number that it was available. Iâm guessing a glitch or bug? I demo all of the FX on the PC first. Just easier for me.
You can shift the plugins around later. At least on the Force I moved the Solina files to the SSD as an experiment. It detected the change next boot up and has been fine since. I donât know if it really makes any difference, though browsing Hype presets on the MPC One it occasionally takes a second or two to load up sample-based sounds, so a faster location might make a difference there.
On SD Card only, never on the internal drive.
I install the plugins on the drive that I put on my Live 2. I donât really use an SD card.
I bought a cheap MPC Live 1 for my fourteen year old son last summer and itâs been collecting dust ever since (he prefers using Ableton go figure). I think I will bust if out this weekend to use an fx unit. What are your favorite ways to use it process external synths and samplers?
So I want to sell my MPC Live 2 but Iâm dragging my feet because I really donât want to be forced to go through all projects and export stems over just one weekend and rush it just because someone has purchased it from me.
Does anyone know what happens with the access/license to the MPC2 software when you sell your hardware? How quickly will it detect that someone else is using the same serial number? Trying to figure out if I will still have some time to work on exporting the relevant stems after getting rid of the hardware or if my access to MPC2 is revoked the second the new buyer registers their product.
I donât have any additional plugins, just the ones that came with the MPC software.
Sad to see you go!
The effects are generally pretty vanilla in themselves, but youâve got four per track plus sub and master tracks, so you can layer them on very thick and route them around quite freely. Youâve also got the XY pad that can be applied to a variety of effects, and can also be recorded as automation.
Iâd say an interesting route would be to sync the MPC to your other devices and create FX patterns, you can lock parameters in the step sequencer or draw them into the clip view. Have a rack of four effects and turn them on and off in sync, etc. etc. Easy enough to set up a pretty powerful filter bank. Also remember you can capture whateverâs going on in the looper.
I donât know about the licensing but would MPC beats work as a free alternative?
It seems to not check after youâve already installed and authenticated things initially. I sold my Live and I still can access and track out projects Iâve made with the Live almost a year ago. I used it just yesterday to render an old project out.
Disclaimer: No guarantees, it could all go kaput on me tomorrow.
I sold my MPCâs a few years ago and:
a) I can still run the MPC Desktop software
b) The sold MPCâs are still in my online account
But this was before all these plugin licenses, so it might have changed now.
