With all the Overbridge talk, it seems like nobody is talking about the AR. I’m assuming they’ve made some improvements on it since NAMM…so is there any new video showing it off?
No idea mate. I think there’s some kind of secret club where you go and hear it. Hehe.

Soundcloud Demo Request - here there’s been soundcloud request for what feels like months too. But no word from the gods. Yet. MAYBE TODAY ?? xx
I think we definitely need to see more. No slight to Cenk, but the NAMM videos make it evident that it was still quite early (whole inoperable sections) and he hadn’t had much time to get acquainted. Like “here’s the basics, and the FM bass drum”. So it would be good to see what a month of development and practice has brought. I’d really like to know more about the sample and sound design options. Maybe more options than just the FM bass drum in this analog beast?
I don’t have a video but can tell you that I really enjoyed playing with it. Obviously it is super loud at the Messe, so it’s kinda hard to hear every detail. But it’s a lot of fun and full of potential. After a quick demonstration by Cenk, I was able to program it pretty fluently with my Octatrack knowledge
I personally think they made it a point to not let you hear what each individual pad sounds like dry. Probably with the noise at the conventions, plus they didn’t want to start a “does it sound like…” debate over their product.
Im thinking it should be able to produce very good old school analog drum type sounds. However, I think they want to accomplish what the tempest wanted to accomplish. Giving people an instrument that isn’t just a basic throwback, but paves the way for some new musical ideas and thoughts.
With pre-orders being filled in approx. 2 weeks, some decent demos have to be soon.
Didn’t you guys watch the overbridge video? It shows off the RingMod kick (cool!) and it shows some more functionality of the OS.

Pre-orders filled in two weeks? I hope so. With the A4 and AR the initial release was only good for a small percentage of the preorders and then another month or two till they get fully filled.
I can also say that i was able to play a short time with the AR,
Cenk showed me just the basics and then i could easily jam a bit with it…
That machine is a killer!!!
Though it’s very brief – this is at least one of the better recordings I’ve heard of the Rytm thus far…
Sounds great!

I guess it pays to be the first pre-order at Elektron’s largest US distributor…
another one
Do want!
Another forum member and I ordered one yesterday at Bax. Let’s hope they can deliver at the end of March. I can’t wait!
I didn’t listen with headphones but it sounded like “…end of march…end of april…”
The first rim sounds like it could do some acid too.
Huh? The Tempest has accomplished ways to new musical ideas, the sliders, slider pressure, beat roll, reverse, pad pressure, 2 cv pedal inputs, note effects, beat effects, comprehensive synth engine on every sound, lots of knobs and buttons, great display, very good note stealing algo, separate outputs, direct access to swing.
There’s just one thing you need, talent to put all that to good use.
Theres no doubt that the AR will be a very good machine, but they are 2 years late to that party and have had the benefit of studying what DSI have done.

The tempest has done some new things and i like it quit a bit. however electron has tons of experience with sequencers and have great planning.
The tempest has an atrocious user interface.
Also, i’m not quite sure “talent” is the correct word to use…
