Octatrack-like midi cc fader

Hello,
Does anyone know if there is a product like the octatrack fader, that could controll parameters, based on scenes, with cc parameters that you could set (to Digitakt, Syntakt etc.)
Pretty much just the octatrack fader, but as a standalone device to controll synths.

Drambo could do this for you I guess.
An expression pedal/slider as well.

Are you looking for a physical controller?

Yeah, i need a physical controller. Is it possible to controll multiple cc values and at different rates (basically like the OT fader)

i saw this controller but its a DIY Arduino project.

Yeah, there’s not much out there.

I was going to suggest building your own with an Arduino and running some sort of max for live or pure data patch, but about half way through building it you’ll probably realise why Elektron have never updated the OT’s crossfader to work over midi.

This looks really nice! Might give it a shot.

I still have this ancient midi controller. You could probably use the cross fader in combination with something like multimap in max4live to get somewhat close-ish?

m-audio-x-session

most dj controllers send midi cc, but its the ‘scenes’ software side that is probably the more difficult bit.
ive setup multi cc super controllers in midi designer pro on ios, you could probably map a physical controller to it, … but its becoming a lot of work just to do that.

midi designer pro can do pretty advanced stuff - i had single encoder both inc/dec values between a range, but also moving through tables of values … (e.g. it would only send delay values that matched tempo syncd cc’s).

I did a midi arduino workshop the other day and involved a slider potentiometer :level_slider:

I jokingly posted it as octatrack mk3 confirmed, but now I’m dangerously close to buying all the bits to make a midi cc crossfader for my op-z 🫠

You can use MIDI processors such as the Blokas Midihub to split and remap one CC to however many ports/channels/CCs you like. It would take a little bit of setup but it wouldn’t be hard to have several preset ‘scenes’ where one fader on a MIDI controller doing a bunch of different things. It’s not going to be as immediate as setting up scenes on the OT, but it would theoretically be more flexible in how you scale and map things.

Would MIDI 2.0 mean that in the future we could have a really good scenes+fader device for OT style scenes but on other devices? I’m imagining holding a button on the scenes device and touching a knob on the connected synth and having it automatically map, just like the OT. Am I understanding 2.0 right?

You could program this on an intech studio grid module in the grid editor, thanks for the idea, I didn’t really know I needed this in my life, I will look into this!

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve turned into a big fanboy of my EF44. I have TEK2 on order.

Another thought, Can you controll midi LFOs via Scenes? If u can, you could just send a half of a squere wave to get a constant value of 127 and then have the scenes controll the depth.
Can someone w a OT test this? (If this works, I just might buy the OT already)
