Oxi One Hardware Sequencer

Here is a picture of the inside of the semi-hard OXI embossed case and Eurorack Pipe Module in case anyone is curious!

Now these are getting out in the wild I’m keen to see how they are compared to a pyramid. These look mighty appealing.

you people make me envious — i got mine two weeks ago, but had absolutely no time to play with it.

Been so close to ordering an oxi I don’t know how many times, but so many posts seem to suggest ‘it’s going to be great…’ Like it’s not yet fully baked. So question; if you knew it had the final firmware would you still buy it?

It’s already great. And yes I would buy it in a heartbeat again! In fact I may do that since I want to use it for my Ambient project too. Yes true it does not feel fully baked yet but it’s more a matter of the extra stuff and it will be added gradually if not quickly. I have already had one feature request implemented which is that rolls can be recorded and I have made a number of other requests too that they have listened to. It’s great to have an influence on the instrument like this.

It feels very easy and simple to use IMO. My favourite feature is that all patterns are running as “Direct Jump” like the Analog Rytm so that you switch patterns directly with the playhead continuing the same position into the next pattern. This allows you to create new beats by shifting between several drum patterns at will - or mix different melodies. So much fun and really cool.
I’m using it these days to make many different melodies on my Hydrasynth which can be loaded instantly. It’s really a performance sequencer IMO.

How is the size compared to say T-1 - is it a lot bigger?

Bigger but the T1 is thicker/taller.

I would generally agree with @Soarer – although I only got mine a few days ago, I’ve found it easy to dive into and get good results. It’s sort of a best of both worlds: as simple as you want it to be, with deep features that can be unlocked if you want them. I’m still discovering those features and how to manipulate them, but it hasn’t felt, to me, like I’m working with an unfinished product at all.

If there was an element I would describe as “underbaked,” it’s really more on the documentation side. The manual could use a major revision with an eye toward organization/workflow; it feels like what it is, a version 1 for a complex piece of equipment. I think that’s a product of that deep feature set, but it can be hard to get a grasp on how the different elements fit together. So, I hope that they continue to work on it as they develop the firmware.

Nice to see them side by side.
Would love to own a T1, maybe in the near future.

So happy to read all the people getting hands on OXI One, Pipe and cases already!
Thanks for the support and we hope the wait was well worth

Some thoughts on these two:
I prefer recording and programming music “manually” or traditionally, making very specific melody sequences so I think the Oxi One is the better choice for me. The T1 is great but it’s a little harder to do something precise or specific with like a clearly defined melody or bass line. Usually I jam a bass line or melody over my music using the Keystep and then record it when it’s right. The T1 is a very different machine with an algorithmic approach which can be much fun to play with. For Euclidean patterns the T1 is king! And off course you can just use the T1 together with a traditional sequencer like Elektron’s. But having 128 steps per pattern in the Oxi is great. Hope Elektron will do that too with new instruments.

So do you often use the Oxi and T1 together?

It’ll be interesting to see how i like it versus the Five12 Vector sequencer.

I’ve been pivoting away from Euro beyond cv modulation sources so I may not need that one as much.

There’s an user that dropped Five12 Vector once he got One. He said almost everything is covered by One plus way easier to input notes. I’ve been eyeing Vector for a long time but honestly I see no reason to get it having OXI + Pipe.

I think the user in question mentioned by @CarlosUnch is @Smapti, maybe he may answer some specific questions?

Yep! I’m getting rid of my Vector Sequencer now that I have One, which I’ve found fits my needs better. I prefer the button grid on the One to the knobs on the Vector. Although the Vector has a lot of features, it feels more menu-divey than One, which is quite immediate to use.

I haven’t. Been too busy using Oxi One with the EssenceFM and now the Hydrasynth.
I’ll probably find good use for it again some time.

Another fun thing to play with is the random generator which can fill your sequencer grid with notes according to Random and Density within the scale - or not, or you can just shuffle the order of the current notes around and create variations of it.

Here I do this with the Hydrasynth playing on top of an ambient Digitone track of mine. I’m pressing generate several times during the track.

Or you can also keep the order (rhythm) and only change the pitch

Yeah? Gotta try that - what’s the settings for that?

Keep Rand above 0 and turn “Dens” one step below “Off” so that it says “Pitch”.
