Sounds great
One thing I really want is user scales. Any plans for that?
I did try generating random pitch sequences within scale but there’s a half note showing up that ruins it…
Weekly Beats 6. OXI 1 + OMX27 into modular+machinedrum+digitone.
Its all brain dead simple stuff on the OXI side. a bunch of sequenced loops whose lengths are all lined up, played on the arranger page. I’m still working up muscle memory so I can feel comfortable enough doing things like moving between the keyboard pages for mutes and key changes. Getting there though
Just stumbled on this on YT a few minutes ago. Sounds great.
Fine. Just preordered the Oxi One, Split, Pipe and case. Happy now, freaks?!
I hope YOU will be happy with it
Check the OXI website, they have a forum including a section on feature requests.
Thanks I’m already there.
Cool- I am wondering if user scales may come when they introduce the computer app I seem to remember are going to make - lets you back up and load songs etc, so this may be a good place to make and upload user scales (and user chords)?
Yup that’s the plan with the scales
Excellent. That will be very useful.
Any news about the “new modes” that Manuel @OxiInstruments has shown recently?
thanks
I’m really interested in this sequencer. A few questions though:
Is the USB midi class compliant? I would like to be able to connect it to my mio4 as a USB Host for more midi inputs and outputs.
Also:
Is the Oxi One able to record knob movements of synths that are able to transmit midi cc? And if it is possible, will it just capture anything, or do you have to manually map cc numbers?
Ideally I would like to just record any incoming midi cc and then make the pattern send it back to the same synth upon playback of the recording.
hmm … this made me think about pairing Oxi with Pyramid.
Yup, it is. Couldn’t test it with a MIO tho.
I just tested it and it looks like recording of external MIDI CCs isn’t implemented right now but I’m pretty sure this will change in the future. For internal recording of MIDI CCs (It’s called modulation lanes) you can select up to 4 CC values. My guess is that the first implementation will require you to configure these values before recording them from an external source as well.
I totally agree that it would be awesome to just hit record and start tweaking on the synth. But there are some pitfalls too. It’s very likely that the amount or modulation lanes will be still limited in the future while it’s not always desired to just record all the things going on. There can be accidents or just things you don’t want to record (ie. you change a global setting on the synth). Maybe some kind of “learn” mode for a modulation lane source which has to be triggered manually could be a good compromise?
I’ve used my Oxi connected to my MioXM as USB host and it worked well.
Thanks!
Yeah if the 4 modulation lanes would be the limiting factor, it would be great to at least be able to automatically assign the right cc to one of the lanes and start recording. Ideally without first having to “learn”. It would probably need a different key combo than the regular record knob for recording automation then, as otherwise the risk of recording unwanted knob movement is too great. But for example: hold mod + record will record knob movements (and notes as well).
Thanks!
You just waited to make the 666th post on this thread for this, didn’t you?
More Oxi fun from last night. A single Poly channel sending both a melody line and an Arp into a 3 voice modular. the melody line is ping ponging, which, added with the arp, cause the round robin midi on the modular to rotate through interesting chords.
Ha! Didn’t notice, but it’s a nice bonus for sure
