Been using patterning 1 for several years on and off. The new app is just out and I have to say with its new features (Randomisation, kit per pattern, trig percentages, ratcheting, automation of all parameters, etc) its essentially “digitakt the app” but with a song mode.
If you have an iPad its well well well worth the money.
Lol dude, its $15 why not try it?. No its not a sampler, but it is a VERY capable drum machine with a pretty incredible sequencer.
For what its worth the iPad interface and the circular sequencer is amazing in use, also the cloud kits are the bomb. Like when you buy it there are literally over 100 free kits to download that take seconds to grab from the cloud. Top notch interface, top notch sequencer, midi control in & out. Just all round great app.
Lots of new MIDI features and organizational improvements also. Of course it depends on how one uses Patterning 1 as to if it is worth the upgrade or not. To each their own.
I like paying people for their hard work so don’t mind the upgrade fee.
a fun little thing I got going real quick on Patterning 2 (using a kit I made from Drumatix and FR XS samples with Patterning 1, imported into v2). exported patterns to Live, added some eq/comp and a synth line from Digitone… fun little workflow…
being slightly miffed there is no grandfathering of the v1 users i still have not bought it, but its a matter of time.
as nice of a drum machine as v2 is, i also am not fan of “like hardware but an app” comparisons.
one thing i was missing in v1 is timing offset per track, sample start automatisation and in general stereo samples. also setting up for external midi sequencing was a pain in the but. how is this in v2?
