Meets many but not all aspects of the brief but maybe the Jomox T-Resonator? Mad box, wonderful box.
El Capistan!!!
Put strymon on the map.
Never had one. And I’m not sure that it ticks all of the boxes. But it looks nuts and it is stereo.
not to hijack this thread, but I always wondered if there’s a delay out there that sounds like the one included in Jomox’ T-Resonator… I love it’s character, and would love to have a standalone delay that sounded just like it… putting the question out there in case somebody knows!
Humm. It’s dirty? Like a filthy little bastard? Looks the part, kind of
I don’t know about dirty, filthy bastard but it is a really fun delay to play with by hand. The ‘Wow and Flutter’ ‘Tape Crinkle’ ‘Tape Age’ and ‘Bias’ can add a lot of character. It also has a built-in spring reverb that sounds lovely.
I know Strymon’s not on your radar but the El Capistan is a great delay. I’d never sell mine. And yes, it does stereo. You can set a dip switch internally to have it TRS stereo in/stereo out.
I’m not sure how much maintaining a true stereo image in the wet signal is to what you envision, but I’m pretty sure all of the Strymons sum to mono for their wet signal path and then generate a stereo image at the output.
That would be okay. It’s the output effect I’m mostly interested in.
Though it’s good to know, no going all in with Sequential’s spread feature then from my Prophet 12.
Line 6 HX Effects would cover the delay you describe and a whole load more standing on its head.
Do you still have your MEK? It doesn’t exactly fit all of your requirements but I bet you could make it work. It makes a great delay processor.
If you like the Chase Bliss stuff, maybe just get two of the same?
Two Ibanez DM1100 into an Analog Heat will pretty much satisfy your demands and sound incredible. I can tell you from many hours using that combo. I can give you some audio examples. Probably run you close to a thousand bucks though.
Get 2 EHX deluxe memoryman’s (men?), the old ones!
It doesn’t seem like you want BBD chip delay. You want one with PT2399 chips.
Zoia is probably the best to get exactly what you want. It’ll take some extra effort to put the patch together.
Maybe Walrus Mako D1?
You probably won’t get more weird than the Bastl Thyme.
Edit: The dirtiest I found anywhere is the ezhi&aka
EQD Avalanche Run V2 - lately I’v been enjoying creating lo-fi/“tape saturated” ambient textures with it.
I do, actually. Interesting … hmmm …
I did shell out for the CXM 1978 and haven’t regretted it for a second. If I get the same kind of relationship with whatever I’m getting here, it’s worth the spend.
Have you considered getting an Octatrack again?
You could have many different weird delays for sure…
And all the grit you need!
No one mentioned Make Noise Strega. It uses PT2399 and it’s perfectly dirty
I would have, I love mine, but @circuitghost wants a stereo delay. I guess you could buy two, though.
