Nothing comes to mind, other than whether I actually like granular synthesis or not. I’ve had more fun with the kind of granular effects apps where it’s more a reverb-y spice overtop of the sound instead of the whole source.
My best time, and the only hardware I have that does it is the 1010 BlackBox. Seemed like most things, when I had a good sample, found the right settings, got the correct grain time/window then truly awesome sounds would spring out.
Bookended by lots of abrasive crap, which certainly has its place. Made a sweet hihat from one of those turds on a custom kit in my MPC to this day. It’s really the knob twisting journey and hearing the real time manipulation that was the best part for me.
But boom! Granular button and a knob to twist. I’ve signed up for the $220 tour and I’m not asking for a refund. Full grains ahead.
This is a big one I want to know more about. Chop mode and step sample seem to be the same thing internally, just one is done during sampling and one is post.
If the chopped/step recorded samples have independent controls, then we’ll be able to manually adjust chops.
And if that’s the case will adjusting the start of a chop change the adjacent chops?
or can start and end points over lap.
I really wanted to love the Electribe 2, even bought one again a few years ago and I just never ‘got’ them. The previous ones had a certain magic for me, patterns would just flow out of my hands, the new ones, never managed to get anything done with them
it appears that the “delete” button right next “sampling” is a permanent delete. it doesnt just “mark for deletion”, which would be undoable. So if you accidentally use that delete button, your sample is gone! fyi / psa
oh yeah it is but if you’re stupid like me you might go a little too fast sometimes and then regret it. i was hoping that one of the “reload pad” functions or “reload pattern” would bring it back, but nope!
Another reason why this isn’t for me. Probably the fastest I’ve ever sold a piece of gear and I am a Roland stan. Was super excited for the sampler aira compact but it’s crippled and convoluted.
I’d kill for an SP-404 that looked exactly like the Korg Replay. I know there’s false outrage about touchscreens in music gear but the P-6 is a perfect example of form over function, and even the 404 mk II has so many two and three key button combos now with all the feature updates. Touchscreens make UI and UX infinitely better.
seems like a really fun thing to keep in the backpack – a lot more capable than a k.o. ii in some ways and definitely an improvement over a volca sample with the ability to play samples chromatically and a bunch of other stuff.
i want to cop but i’m a little anxious about the 48-sample storage limit. i wish they had included an SD card option for project saving and sample storage because 48 just seems like too little for me. i have a hard time making my mind up and browse a lot of samples sometimes.
for 200 bucks tho, I think I can live with the limitation tho. going to order off perfect circuit this week.
