The motion record can apply to two effects, but it can only record motion for the first page of parameters for each effect. A bit odd of a design decision in my mind, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they get an update that allows us to record changes for all parameters across bus 1/2/3/4 and hey, why not the input FX bus while we’re at it
I actually don’t mind it skipping the FX for a few reasons as default…
- You may not want to print the FX to the loop
- Bus 3/4 aren’t turned off once you have resampled, so you wouldn’t want those typically
- There can be some looping issues with long delay/reverb (just double the pattern typically and chop)
That said, there really should be an extra pattern -> audio copy mode that would allow us to resample various parts of the bus chain… optimally allowing us to select what depth through the mixer we want to go pre bus, post bus 1/2, post bus 3/4, etc…
Yeah, true! Still, as you said, options would be nice…
Skip back & classic resampling are dope, but when the first hit isn’t on the first step (+ micro timing), pattern bounce is really useful.

i’ve been experimenting trying to find a workflow / template of sounds to use for a project ~ this is my latest … getting close to diving in and working on an album
I’ve been meaning to say something for a while now…
There’s some real charm in what you do, Bee. This is the second or third track you’ve posted that has genuinely touched me. Anyway, good work.
Never lose that heart and soul.
Cheers!
Really like hearing people use the SP for this kind of looser feeling composition. I’m hoping to experiment a bit in that direction myself when mine gets delivered (in addition to crate digging beat making stuff).
Hi everyone, I’m curious about the purpose of the [REC] button on the mk2. It seems that the [Resample] button also covers the same functions as the [REC] button.
More of a cheat book, than a sheet
I know the machine is too feature rich to end up with a onepager!
Thanks for sharing…
Thanks for sharing, beautiful sound! If you don’t mind, I’d be interested to hear a little bit about your workflow. I’m a songwriter rather than beat maker and I’ve so far been holding off buying a mkII – though I’ve had an SX for ten years(?). Do you use yours a bit like a multitracker?
Silly question, but does your SP sit nice and flat on a table? My new SP was just delivered and it wobbles a fair amount on a flat surface every time you touch it. Perhaps I’m being fussy but I think it’s low key going to drive me crazy in use, and I’m thinking of asking for a replacement.
Mines flat but my 8s wobbles.
I would if I were you, I HATE tactile gear that wobbles. And it puts me right off using them.
(mine is flat btw)
Was in a bit of rut trying to make anything, but this forum never ceases to provide great inspiration! Not as good as @Affectionate-Bee-781’s stuff, but free-time guitar has always been a favorite of mine
Same here! I think it’s going back sadly.
Got my SP today. Brand new. No wobble.
made this tune today with the mc-101 and the 404. made the perc loop on the 101, then sampled some chords with the 101’s chord designer. i didnt know about that feature before i got it and its pretty nice to have, especially since it was going to be my chord machine! then played around with some vocal synths and i cant stop using the scat presets
Well the last three tracks posted in here are really great Overshare perhaps but I’ve been feeling a mixture of exhausted and manic at the same time this week and @Affectionate-Bee-781 and @tovia, your tracks have soothed my soul a little bit, they’re really lovely.
@schoolbabyboy, this is very dope. Getting slight devonwho vibes. It’s brought a smile to my face. It’s all very cool but the vocal synths and the fuzzy bass are especially ace. I could loop the little bit at 36-42 seconds for hours
Damn. The heat. What vocal synths?
thanks! yeah those scat vocals are so fun i crack myself up using them each time
@abluesky - the vocal synths are just presets in the vox category on the mc-101, one of them is morphed between vowels using the mod wheel, really fun playing that in
wow, truly touched by all the kind words here
I had a goal to put out a solo album by the end of the year and was starting to question my commitment to it, but hearing people’s appreciation for the music gives me fuel especially, thanks for your share @JohntheSavage
@Nexus_Mode & @janglesoul thank you ~ and yes, I am getting a looser feel by using it mostly as a multi-tracker (as a way to expose and expand my own playing) often capturing long guitar or piano improvs…
I tend to keep the instruments on separate pads through the resampling process until I’m ready for a “mix down”.
@tovia mm don’t even sell yourself short - your playing is beautiful! I listened to it on loop while unwinding from an afternoon of laying down flooring, thank you for your magic
@looms glad to have provided some relief ~ hope it continues for you … your soul is worthy of soothing
since I’m already knees deep in a long post, might as well add a jam from last night guitar looping, playing lead while turning the drum pattern on&off. I kinda love the whitespace in the loop, a leftover of resampling to the beat and waiting for it to come around
I’ve been around this forum for a bit, mostly in the Deluge corners … really lovely to see so much positive activity here, blessings to you all
