Introducing the Solis Ventus: Dual Engine Delay and Reverb.
A harmonious blend of innovation and tradition, the Solis Ventus redefines what’s possible in delay and reverb effects. Honoring its iconic predecessor, this powerhouse unit integrates two advanced delay and reverb processors, offering versatile routing options and an array of 24 meticulously crafted algorithms, including brand-new and revitalized classics.
The separate and switchable “Dynamics” and “Crossover” engines add yet another depth of sound shaping. The former responds to how you hit your notes—ensuring that the delays and reverbs play with you. The latter takes care of sonic blending over the frequency spectrum.
Experience the next evolution in sound design with the Solis Ventus.
Quick features breakdown:
-24 handcrafted delay and reverb algorithms
-96 preset patches
-Dual engine DSP with flexible routing schemes: “Series”, “Parallel”, “Dual Mono”
-Switchable dynamics engine for each DSP to apply “Ducking” or “Gate” with adjustable intensity
-Switchable crossover filter to mix the DSP engines on separate frequency spaces with adjustable cutoff
-Stereo 40 seconds looper with “Reverse” “2X Speed” and “Ascend Dub” playback effects
-2 expression inputs
-True spillover and bypass trails
-Analog dry-through
OT:
Sorry, I can’t stand the bla bla of most synthfluencers any more.
They get the equipment “for free” and after monetizing the clicks of their “excited and honest reviews” they sell it.
On topic:
If that GFI pedal shows no flaws like latency (found no information on GFI’s site) or digital artifacts / clicks, then Strymon and Meris should lower the prices of their reverbs and delays fast.
Agree! The only downside was that it didn’t allow you to just use any algo of delay or reverb at the same time, didn’t like the combo options. This one could have a few more controls, but I‘m sure it will sound amazing.
Yeah I use pedals so I don’t need a screen, otherwise I can just use Valhalla stuff that’s even better imo. It was also a bummer that you could only access the algos they added later using the preset controls. Guess that’s fixed now and they’re just integrated. The whole preset system was also kinda useless to me and made it a bit complicated to just use the stomp switches like on normal pedals (can’t remember exactly what the problem was).
But overall Specular Tempus was already a superb pedal and with the updates it gives other boutique pedals a run for their money if you’re fine with only four control knobs.
What? Solis Ventus? Just found 3 stores in Europe with stock. Ordered from this one: http://www.fuzznbuzzguitars.com/ Contacted them and they confirmed they have stock.
I mean you DON’T keep it hooked up to a computer! Every now and then I’ll open up the editor, make a few patches, save em onto the pedal and that’s that. Haven’t done it in a couple years, but I’m glad I did a couple times. Just saying
On the other hand: used prices for Specular Tempus might now drop after they went quite high after it was discontinued. So maybe worth looking at the algos available in Specular Tempus and checking if its limitations are a problem before buying Solis Ventus.
Without checking, many algos of Solis might already be in Specular Tempus. It had a lot of them and it was a good blend of bread and butter and more ambiental/experimental stuff. It’s biggest drawback imo was that if you wanted to use the cool algos and wanted to have more control over them, you couldn’t use delay and reverb at the same time.
What I‘d really love in a pedal: chorus, delay and reverb at the same time, with at least some controls like mix or time/decay/width available for them. I know Zoom has the CDR which is great value, but something a bit more advanced might get me back to using a pedal instead of plugins. Does such a thing exist with stereo?
I don’t want to discourage anyone, just wanted to share my experience with the Tempus. On one hand, it’s a very nice piece of gear with a nice smooth digital tone and charming design, but there are couple of downsides:
limited control of the parameters from the pedal itself. If this version solved it, it would be great. I really wished for more control for the algos
Tempus tends to sound really subtle. Or maybe I was missing something about proper gain staging. I used it as a master reverb for Octa and it sounded quite transparent most of the time. This seamless blending may be a good thing, but other reverb pedals are much more distinct.
