Tangerine from 1010 Music

That’s wild! Is it tangerine that is doing the chase blissy stuff?

I can see slimming down being reasonable with results like this…

Both, actually. I just use them for different purposes. Tangerine runs loops that cycle independently of each other and the Field, whereas the Field runs a long, linear sequence. So it’s using the strength of both together.

The Tangerine’s pitch algorithms and its top quality output play their parts, of course.

Are you able to sync Tangerine Midi via USBC while charging it or just with the adapter?

Can’t find a manual yet. This pic from Sweetwater retailer US makes it seem like 1/3 of the Nanobox series can do USB midi but not the others? Weird if so.

We’ve added USB device midi to all of the nanobox series now through firmware updates.

Anything that provides device power and is a USB host should do the trick. I’ve used it with macOS, my Windows box, and an OP-1F.

Can anyone tell me if the audio-in can act as a ‘pass-thru’ or a ‘mix-in’ in a live situation?

As in, could I connect an outside synth to the audio in of the Tangerine, and then assign that to the Tangerines mixer so that you can hear it, and hear the Tangerine generated stuff at the same time live? (From the Tangerines output jack)

Awesome news! Also just now seeing your post from a few hours ago stating such. Sorry about missing that fact.

I think the Tangerine is going to be my next purchase. I loved the synchronized loops in the Blackbox, so having that feature combined with the ability to make synths out of my analog gear, in such a delightful compact form factor, is just so appealing!

This will pair well with my OP1F, TX-6, EP-133, and OB4. Exciting times ahead w the Tangerine.

Can someone help me figure out how to multisample vsts from FL Studio? I can’t get it to work even with the new usb midi update. Playing keys on the tangerine don’t do anything in the daw so when I hit record nothing happens.

I have the same issue. Watching this one with curiosity.

Yes :slightly_smiling_face:

Excellent! Thank you

Sadge. If it doesn’t work, it’s pretty useless for me and I’ll have to return.

I can get midi in to work over USB, tho. I’ve played the Tangerine from the Field’s keyboard. So the relationship works. And also, I think the latest firmware is in beta still.

I also tried with midi-thru as well as usb to midi converter along with the midi usb update. None have worked for multisampling flstudio but I’m also not a hardware pro.

In general, I’m finding a few wonky things with the latest update, which might or might not have to do with the midi implementation. @KF6GPE I’ll reach out to you guys through the usual channels to let you know.

Thank you both! Yeah, this is a beta.

Usual channels are great, thank you. Most of us are out until the middle of next week, so it may be a bit before we dig in.

@sleepingdevil, that definitely ought to work. Check to be sure that you have a cable that passes both data and audio, please. Another thing to do is check your MIDI settings in global configuration and make sure it’s on omni or set to the channel you’re using. I don’t have either my tangerine or FL Studio right now, so I can’t offer more. Please post this to the 1010music forums and I’m sure that one of the folks — either users or our folks — should be able to get this worked out!

One thing we know we need to think about is true thru-ing between the USB and TRS ports. Right now it doesn’t do that, unlike the blackbox.

Thanks for the support, all.

Anyone have recommended noise isolator to use with the tangerine (if changeing the power source is not an option)

I have a bunch of these from Amazon I’ve just scattered around:

If the noise is caused by the fact that you’ve connected Tangerine to a USB host, which at the same time is itself wall-powered by USB (eg Blackbox), for both power via USB and audio via line in, you are in for a buzz and an audio signal isolator will probably not remove the noise.

Using an isolator in this configuration may change the frequency and/or volume of the noise to the extent that you may be able to accept it, or not. I have tried this with the Besign isolator and with the more luxurious Radial StageBug6. The best way is to find out about the precise cause of the noise and then to try to work around it from there.

I’m going to need instructions if possible because I can’t get it to work

Thanks for heading over to the the community section for the nanobox tangerine and posting what you’re seeing there. Steve or Lucas should be able to get back to you shortly, or one of the other forum users ought to be able to help!

For others following along, we like to keep actual support stuff there, especially stuff like this that may require a ticket or debugging, so that everyone in the company & our users can follow along. I lurk/post on elektronauts and elsewhere in my own time, and can miss stuff. This time 'round I’m traveling for the holidays, and don’t have the necessary stuff with me to lend a hand.
