Seems really unintuitive to me.
what do you mean by shifts stuff around? would you mind linking to the point in the video where he mentions that? unless you are referring to what im talking about below
man watching the scene numbering confusion part is making me wonder why people make it so complicated. keeping it one pattern per group per scene makes more sense to me. i think having Scene 1 contain the same numbered patterns as the scene number (A1, B1, C1, D1) is the least confusing way to get through things. its pretty easy to copy and remove notes from patterns, if you want to use A1 in Scene 3, i would just copy it to pattern A3. keeping things sequential avoids all that jumping around business.
have you ever seen somebody with a Shag hairdo, now why would someone ever do that to their head nevermind donât answer that⌠the point is people are just different and the same, but still different while still being the same⌠but when it comes to how are creativity is sparked internally there just arenât any rules and hilariously itâs not even up to us, weâre all just at the mercy of our own creative whims
well sure but that normally comes after already learning how to use a device. get the intended, base level groundwork done, then explore other possibilities to avoid confusion based on lack of experience or information. of course some people feel more creative without the experience or information, but are those the same people getting confused by the architecture? i feel like those are separate populations. Type A personality and Type B personality stuff
by all means i hope people get creative and complicated and wacky with their flow, but the video seems to present a complicated and confusing workflow as a beginners workflow. he spent a bunch of time copying sounds between projects too which feels like a weird thing to recommend when sample assigning and editing is way faster than what he did. but hey it sounds like it makes sense to some people so more power to it.
I think the difference between what you just said, and what he said is the best example⌠and there are even more opinions out there⌠everyone exist.
Exactly. Most Elektron boxes feel very natural to me. My Akai MPC Live II, which looks like it should be so easy to use, drives me crazy because many things are not where I expect them to be. Some of it is due to feature crepe. Just look at what is happening to the SP 404mkii as more and more features are added, and shoved into button combos. I need a really big cheat sheet to keep up. My first love in sequencing boxes was the Emu XL-7 Command Station. To me it was a hardware predecessor to Ableton Live. I never got along with the Yamaha 200 line (AN200, DX200). Yamaha product OSâ in general never fit my mindset. Roland is a bit better for me. But, I know a lot of people who are the opposite.
it is really interesting seeing what types of gear feel natural for people. i really liked the elektron boxes (same with the M8) when i used them but the music i was making on them felt more locked down and clinical. compared to the sp404 and the ep133 which feel very open and goofy which aligns with my musical mindset more. im glad you got the clarity you were looking for! i hope you have a grand ol time with the ep133
yeah itâs so incredible how we are all individually wired like I love making music on the sp-303, but had to return the 404mk2 twice⌠returned the sample trek but am very keen on the 12 Xt, loved the eps 16+ and asr-10 but the triton and fantom gave me hives, love the mpc while the roland mv made me nauseas⌠octatrakâs not my thang but the synthstrom deluge is⌠the digitakt is god, the novation circuit is the devil , love the polyend tracker, bought 2 polyend playgrounds and returned them so quick, mc-707 was painful, mc-101 a keeper, loved the sp-808, just tolerated the yamaha rs-7000 while (making my best beat on it wtf) slow to gel with the black asr-x, quick to gel with the red asrx-turbo and I never liked red instruments, had so much invested into maschine for 12 years but now Iâm just indifferent about it, though still plan on grabbing a + one of these days when theyâre at after thought pricesâŚ
and ya donât stop keep on til the break of daaaawn⌠was not crazy about the Pocket operators, however loving the EP-133, need those punch-in fx and resampling though
Getting the TE KO to respond to external start/stop command is one of lifes greatest dark arts. My bulldog is more responsive.
Works great in logic over usb for me, but havenât synced it with other hardware to be honest.
its been working fine for me so far with the op-1f. the main headache for me is resetting the sequencer back to 1.1.1 manually on the ep133.
I think theyâre is a button combo to get to the start. shift and -, shift and play will play from start.
i use shift+play, i just wish double tapping stop on the op-1f brought the ep133 back to 1.1.1 but i know thats a pipe dream since the ep133 doesnt have a stop button.
I really wish it did. Itâs annoying to have to shift - or shift play play to get back to the beginning quickly when you want to record the next piece.
yeah, iâd probably use them together more in that case. to keep myself from getting too annoyed iâve been sticking the ep133 to drum and bass duty so im not bouncing around too often
i enjoyed this interview with the TE CEO, Jesper. he seems like a true all the way up his own ass artist type but he also seems to be living his most genuine self.
i also appreciated how he says he doesnt really care about user testing/feedback on designs and how he prioritizes personality and unique identity in design.
hyped on this tune i made yesterday, ive been making loads of beats in parks recently and this is one of my favorites so far. i sampled a few synth chords off the op-1f and then did the rest on the ep133, then recorded back onto the op-1f along with environmental ambience
I got the KO2 syncâd to my LOFI 12XT and its a great team. Initially i couldnt sync because of a crap midi lead off Amazon but the Boss midi lead arrived today and both sync fine! The KO2 for me works best on percussion only (the instant groove, just sounds ârightâ) and i leave the rest to the LOFI 12XT which has poly, far more sample space, LFOs and more tracks.
I just love how you keep porring out beats, while I am just sitting here salty waiting for the resample feature to arrive. I know itâs a mental block keep âm coming
