Donāt forget to invite the fully equipped troubadour, so he will inscribe this fight into one of these 64mb devices for the upcoming generations.
Iāve seen people here and elsewhere speculating about KO II FW updates and my brain wants to share all of my totally uninformed assumptions about the future of the device.
Hot takes:
- I donāt really expect to see resampling. Maybe destructive editing, but the device has 64MB of storage and given how long the device needs to wait after uploading or deleting samples, I canāt imagine resampling fitting into the KO IIās otherwise lightning-fast workflow.
- Iām not actually sure how song mode would work. Based on diagrams in the guide, they view it as a feature that one pattern will continue playing even after the scene is switched, which would lead to a bit of a dilemma as to when a pattern should switch. On top of that, I guess youād have to enter in each individual sceneās number using the number pad? I dunno, Iād love to see it but itās hard for me to imagine how it would be implemented.
Hopes/dreams/assumptions:
- I assume an update will add the ability to copy a track from one pad to another. You can delete the notes on a single pad, and the display will read āTRK.ā I think this is the only time it currently displays this, but Iām imagining it as an option for lifting and dropping in KEYS mode.
- MIDI CC implementationānamely, the ability to record and edit CC values using the fader. Might be limited to just one CC but Iād even be happy with that.
- MIDI filteringāwould be nice to have more say in how the KO II responds to incoming MIDI. Less helpful about that one though.
David from TE, in this thread said it is going to happen
Sweet, thanksādefinitely missed that! Iām curious how theyāll implement it. Also I realized my thought on it going slowly doesnāt make sense given how fast the thing samples.
maybe all of this medieval K.O. stuff is just a distraction from the basic improvements needed and hopefully coming down the pike, lets not lose site of those.
the architecture is already there with LOOP, so my guess would be that there will be an option between LOOP and RESAMPLE or that they forgo LOOP entirely to make way for RESAMPLE.
just a guess though
I donāt really car for resampling loops (thereās really not enough memory for that), but a way to resampling a sound to bake in effects etc. would be good.
My main whishes atm would be pattern chaining and/or recordable effects.
As it is, switching patterns while playing the effects is a bit clumsy. For me, the playable effects are maybe the main feature of the thing and it would be great to be able to focus on them for transitions in a chain of patterns.
Also, I donāt understand why the fader seems to switch to āfxā once your using the punch in effects. Would much prefer it to stay fixed on the last chosen parameter for each group in order to have more parameters to play & perform with.
Anyways, super excited for an update!
Did you know you can let go of the FX button once an effect is enabled? Makes pattern switching at the same time a little easier. One less finger in the way anyway!
Yeah I find that a bit annoying. I canāt imagine thatās the expected behaviour
Anyone use their KO2 as a midi controller for ableton live? Was daydreaming of controlling some synths with it, not sure if it does any CC control or anything other that note data?
I didnāt control the Ableton but - yes, NP to do it. Hereās the video that shows MIDI control over the Logic Pro -
yeah this is a very good point!
The PO 33 and 133 have filters, hi and lo pass with resonance.

Another photo of the medieval edition leaked itās called ep-1320

That certainly doesnāt look like AI but I like that they drop ship them to stores before announcement at the risk of it leaking. Makes impulse hype purchases much easier lol.
