back sloppy translation just from what my phone thought the text was
great darkness over the land they were shooting He cut into a carpenter and a blacksmith I will eat it, so that it will be light again bring joy to the world, only music can save us And so he thought, I must work He also thought of making a machine. Thus was the medieval ep-1520 was born, the people gloated and sang. the clerics were greatly impressed and They said the machine will save us. mog, many strong horsemen far away and they traveled widely, like everyone else.
seems more melodically focused with the staff on the back and the little flute cherub on front, but has the tonic number, so maybe can be drum or melodic synthesis? wonder if they put the op-1 dbox synth in the ep format.
the button in the same place as the sample button looks like it says ābemusā which is latin for āletās drinkā so that also lends itself to tonic. or its ādemusā, āletās giveā i dunno
Idk Iām sure itās real but so out of character for te style/aesthetic.
Also Iām not a fan of medieval stuff + overall print design doesnāt fit one bit with the lego hardware.
cant wait to see their official announcement, very interested to see how they pitch it. thankfully im not too interested in any new sound sources so i think im good.
the japanese text under EP-1320 says āLudrickās Paradoxā
did a google and found the graphic designer Ludrick Fortune, wonder if hes involved. i could see how the paradox is related to the design going against the TE brand. his stuff isnt medieval or anything, actually looks more typical TE.
Hereās the slightly different translation from Google lens for anyone curious.
the lambs of darkness were dragging the earth, it fell upon the widow and the blacksmith of Ethlia, that he might again bring light and joy to the world. only music can save us now, ethlia thought, I need to build a machine, he also thought, so was ep-1320 medieval born, people rejoiced and sang. The clerks were very impressed and said the machine would save us. Soon, many strong horsemen traveled far and wide, like everyone else
āpeople rejoiced and sang.ā
If it is indeed real, I wonder if it includes the vocoder from the po-35 speak. The speak has a monophonic tonic engine track on it, so I wouldnāt be surprised if they combined them again on the bigger format. If I remember correctly, they originally wanted to make the vocoder on the speak a real-time vocoder, but couldnāt do it due to the limited processing power.
yeah so the main question now is- is the ep-1320 a rebranded or reskinned regular ep-133 as some sort of artist collab⦠or since the name is ep-1320 is it a souped up po-32? but if it was a new version of the po-32, why the whole medieval theme? and if its an artist collab, or reskinned ep-133, what artist would that be? thereās no obvious collab from the packaging at leastā¦
as someone pointed out on reddit, if its just a new colorway with possibly new factory sounds of the ep-133, it would make a lot of sense to call it the ep-1330 instead of ep-1320.
on one hand it think its really soon after the release of the ep-133 to drop another completely new version in the series⦠also i had heard that future versions would have different layouts of the buttons, etc. but on the other hand everyone wanted a version of the tonic as the next release. but the whole design of the ep-1320 seems so random, if they had just released a ep version of the tonic it would be such a hit? very confusing.
After the disaster of the last one with the internet flooded with broken faders and unhappy customers theyāve decided to release the new model with Latin text nobody can read and a terrible design aesthetic.
I donāt know, I guess it depends. If I remember correctly, the EP-133 was developed really quickly, within a year or so. Could be that they designed it to be easily adaptable to new sound engines or had been working on other versions in parallel. And the tonic engine is nothing new as well. But Iāve got absolutely no expertise on the topic, so Iām just guessing.
Next week (starting today) we have the yearly āMedeltidsveckanā meaning āmedieval weekā on the island of Gotland in Sweden. So doesnāt seem too weird if they made a special edition to celebrate that and since the release is during the week it seems logical.
