The Differences Between Model:Cycles and Model:Samples // Model:Cycles Tutorial

Ricky Tinez coming on with a very interesting timing for a Tutorial on the Models, 3 to 4 years after their release. I am hoping this is a hint for an incoming firmware update… and as I can read from the comments on the youtube video, I am not the only one.

Fuck me.

Remind me to DM you later to discuss the possibility of the Models getting updates.

Stuff like “what features would you like to see in the models”

Or “have you heard the good news?!” While I sincerely hold a blue book in my hand #callback

:b:itching about firmware updates and feature requests is one of the foundational pilars of Elektronauts.

It holds this community together.

Amen(break).

M:C:S MkII maybe? With power handle MkII?

well, I just this second bought one for quite silly reasons*, so I am now amongs those hoping we’re about to get a Battery Handle v2.0 with Toblerone dispener.

  • mostly an opportunity to do a live performance somewhere I have to travel super light. I can work out 30mins of performance on a box I’ve never used before in three weeks right?

Looks like Elektron heard us all loud and clear and lowered Both models price from 390 to 299. At this price they’re actually decent choice as first hardware/travel oriented hardware.

Uhhh….one is a sampler, and the other is a synth? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

nah, one is a sample player (cannot sample nor resample) the other is a fm /wavetable synth with macro controls (machines).

Doubt it will be a new Model, but you know what would be neat? If they did what they’re doing with the other boxes and bleed features in a cut-down form between the two boxes. Basic sample support via menu on Cycles, Cycles preset playback on Samples? IDK have they done weirder?

Ok, one is a sample player, one is a synth

that would effectively cut both their Models sales, they make sure most key features of their products dont overlap for that exact reason. Best we can (still) hope for is a modernisation of the sequencer with scales, more lfos, song mode, and maybe euclidean mode ?(since they’re marketed as drum machines aren’t they?).

I still think letting only 6 machines on the cycle is such a wasted potential to turn it into a machinedrum-lite…

I mean… It depends how many people ever buy both… but I guess that would be hard for them to know  idk why I had the idea, I literally don’t need it. Just thought it would be crazy though not entirely beyond them to do at this point…

Ok the Cycles arrived. THIS THING IS WICKED FUN.

I mean maybe I’ll eventually get frustrated with the distinctive sound but it feels like such a brilliantly weighted combo of limitation and completeness.

Sort of like nanoloop on a Gameboy advance but with effects and more knobs and a bit cooler to stand behind on stage.

Serious question: if the M:C doesn’t have the +Drive that M:S/Digitakt have… Why it costs the same?
