Probably.
A step sequencer, or a high-resolution/linear sequencer?
Sequencer has its limitations being a 64 step, step sequencer. Sampler is the bees knees. Sequenced sampling is unmatched.
I do a lot of my sequencing with the Squid and on some levels, just need a chromatic sample playback device. Also, looking for time stretching.
FX are a must
FX are a bit marmite ( I really like them though) and the time stretching isn’t as advanced as Ableton, but does the job.
IMHO Octatrack isn’t the droid you’re looking for if you want a chromatic sample playback device.
The timestretching isn’t the best thing about it either.
Are you looking to replace SP16/DJS? They have the OT on chromatic sample playback fronts.
I still have the SP16, and it works for what I’m thinking. Just looking for something a little more creative and out of the ordinary, like the Squid.
The OT is definitely out of the ordinary, it would certainly add creativity but is better at loop manipulation, synthesis from samples, and so on than chromatic sample playback, the SP16 handles that better IMHO.
I used to only save project and since a while i also do save parts all the time as well. Never saw the difference though.
thats pretty funny
looking for the best realtime stretching or would offline quality stretching work for you as well?
Real time would be preferred
because you said weird the grass might already be greener on the side you’re already on with the sp cause the mpc wouldn’t give you weird in spite of it’s great offline stretching… maybe a Yamaha su-700?
Dammit, guys are recommending other gear on a thread whose title is « OT is amazing ». Blasphemy.
Hey Nauts, I’m back… Missed you all…
Still Octatracking, Long Live Octatrack!!!
Hey Mike! Been to Mars? I guess they don’t have much bananas there…
I accidentally slipped into a time warp vortex wormhole, was only a few seconds for me but it seems like a year or so went by back here…
I had me some Space Banana’s so I was alright…
Pretty long yes! I guess you were not with OT to reverse time with RATE…
Hoping you’ll be able to stay for a while!
Good to have you back Mike!. Missed your sense of humour and knowledge
WElcome back from wherever you were…
you were missed.
