Just sounds wonderful. Anybody else love the sounds of this synth?
me too! sounds great
it‘s too big for me and the programing looks not so fun that‘s why I‘m looking an the reface cs. It‘s said to come from the an1x engine
I saw that as well. But to me it doesn’t sound as big. Maybe you could layer the voices and no patch storage is another issue on the reface. The sound is almost CS80 territory.
I sold mine on about four or five years ago but it was primarily space saving/saving for an MD situation and I had a friend who was mad keen for it. Sounded excellent and I didn’t think programming was all that bad. Certainly not any worse than other synths that use a matrix style approach.
Don’t know how close it is to the Reface CS as far as sound engine is concerned - but the AN1x is definitely more flexible. If Yamaha were to awake from their slumber and offered up some kind of tabletop format synth to leverage this technology (or indeed the FS1r or EX5) with a hands-on control surface then I’d definitely be interested…
You might also look for an AN200. Not common, and kinda pricey on the used market, but has pretty much the same engine.
I used to have an AN1X. Really liked it a lot, though it was plasticky and kinda ugly. Sure sounded nice.
Curious as to how similar the AN1X and the AN200 compare sound-wise. I’ve heard the AN200 is half an AN1X due to some of it’s limitations. Looks like I would prefer the groove box model. I use a Reface CS and am running it through an old school Lexicon MPX110. It sounds great and it’s easy to dial in great sounds. I wish it had an onboard EQ because some of the low end can get muddy on chords.
I’ve owned an an1x and an200. Could not get into the an200. Really need a computer to edit it proper. Might work for some (but not for me).
Just got an An1x today! Paid 750, it’s in great shape, though the LED is hard to read. The knobs don’t feel the greatest and I worry about the internal battery sometimes.
But man does this thing live up to the sound hype!! Absolutely incredible!!
Anyone still rocking one? Any tips or things you recommend to try out with it?
Hot tip for those interested in A1NX: Yamaha’s iOS Synthbook app uses (apparently) the same engine and costs 0 euros. Sounds really good!
