Background:

A new trademark for a ‘Tonverk’ from ELEKTRON MUSIC MACHINES INC. (US) was discovered in April 2024:

What is currently known:

  • A European trademark filing was also found and has since been published.

  • Elektron has been recruiting Rust developers for a Linux based platform over the last 2-3 years for what has long been speculated to be an entirely new product line. According to Cuckoo, Digitakt II appears to be the first instrument built on this new platform.

  • In September, a ‘Tonverk’, possibly stolen, was listed on Xianyu (Chinese version of eBay). A mockup of the chassis from leaked images:

Hm, could this also be them renewing old trademarks for existing machines, bags, cables and software? Or are these definitely new?

I think the ‘Elektron’ trademark should have been renewed already in 2023. That being said, the second trademark for ‘E’ seems to refer to the stylized logo. Maybe a refresh.

It’s a new machine called Death Cloud. It modulates weather pattens in stereo (suck it Digitakt). You can store things in the Death Cloud, like ambitions, but you may never get them back. Overbridge is a breeze with this one as well.

It’s a Digitakt MK2, same formfactor:

  • 8 Mono tracks + 4 stereo tracks with one of them being reserved for recording/looping (SD card stream)
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 4 inputs
  • 4 outputs
  • 192K sample rate, gold plated converters
