Did you expect them to release two new machines in 2/3 weeks?
I’d say 50% chance that it’s a yes, or maybe a no, so it’s a solid maybe
I doubt we are going to see a portable mid-tier (so cheaper than current digiboxes) battery-powered Elektron device any time soon. The way they handle the BP-1 and the current situation with the models make me think they are more likely to focus on the safer option right now which are the upgraded digiboxes.
I don’t even think we are going to see a proper new flagship soon either. They’re best sellers still seem to be the syntakt/Digitakt by a large margin.
It is still much more likely to be a modern take on the old flagships than a budget device. I think Elektron is done with budget devices.
My best bet is on a digital synth flagship with several full synth engines, or a digi sized synth with several engines and polyphony to replace the digitone.
There should be a trig condition like this.
there is! 50%
would tonverk being a flagship digital synth not be a proper flagship though? I’m confused
They released the Analog Four MkII and Analog Rytm MkII on the same day, so……

When I talked to them they said that they want to keep updating the DT2 for years to come the same way they did with the DT1.
No comment on the trademark besides that not all trademarks they register materializes in a product.
They didn’t like that the DT2 got leaked because they essentially wanted it to be a surprise (my words not theirs) which I can understand.
Imagine working on the release material but the thing gets leaked with full specs so whatever you planned is now potentially ruined.
I can understand users who are curious as well but if I try put myself in the shoes of the people who worked on the release videos then I do feel bad.
Nah I wanted to say that the most likely answer is a new digibox then way behind a flagship and finally almost no chance for it to be a budget portable device…
allow me to bring some clarity to this thread… when I get some
I really find it hard to grasp that the models have been such a miss. The Cycles is one of the best selling drum computers on Thomann right now with great review score. Just how much did they need to sell in order to feel good about it?
as far as I’m concerned the Models are instant classics
I think the models are great!
formfactor
indvidual swing
audio or midi
chance knob
price point
momentary muting
what’s not to love
Also tactile control, less menu diving make me want to play more with them than a digitakt 1 or 2
I also love the 16 steps vs 2 row of 8
They will become classic and everyone will want one once discontinued
Typical
what i don’t understand is why Elektron haven’t doubled down on this formfactor/ethos… they’ve clearly got a winner on their hands with the model series… maybe they will in the future, just seems like so little talk about them… it would be a shame for them to be one offs
I’d love to see a Model with much better hardware, in line in terms of specs and build with a Digitakt 2. The interface and layout is mostly really well thought out for live performance use.
I may be completely off but it looked like the primary intent with the Model series was to attract new customers with a more affordable machine into the Elektron sequencer workflow. From there, they might want (or not) to get a DT or DN with more features. Of course they are more simple and have great features that give more instant satisfaction, but one of their main feature was portability and they failed with the power handle. It looks like they don’t want to get into that territory anymore.
haha yeah the handle was a debacle but the model series is so great that imho it was forgivable… I’m actually still looking for 3 handles just to use as stands… but anyway if they were just an entry way into the elektron family it was a great one… they really elevated the workflow to a level I personally think they shouldn’t waste
