Using M:C as fx module

Hello

I’m fairly new to the Elektron world and have really been amazed at what it can do. After some long research I got my hands on an E:C maybe 2 weeks ago. I’ve got to play with it and really love the Elektron way of working.

Yesterday I tried sending signal from M:C to audio in from electribe 2 and also hooking midi up. It seems to work good but I’d like to know if it’s possible to only send 1 track of my M:C to the audio in on Electribe.

Say I only want my kick track to be sent to electribe to put fx on. Now it’s on all the tracks so when I activate more than one track it doesn’t sound good at all.

Hopefulle anyone can help me because I don’t think I could find any info on this in the manual.

You should be able to do it, by panning that track to the left, and all the other tracks to the right. Connect only the left output to your other device.

I can’t remember whether the reverb on the m:c is stereo or mono; there’s some chance you might end up with some reverb on the left channel, not sure.

Thanks for your reply! I think I understand i’ll try and update about it.

This is the way to do it, but as mentioned unfortunately the reverb and delay sends are stereo and will be present on both channels. It’s the same on both M:S and M:C.

My kick track doesn’t use any delay/rev so I shouldn’t really worry about it I think. It’s nice for recording stuff and then fixing the panning in ableton. But for live it’s best that I invest in a mixer with send & return I think?

It may end up being a bit more complicated than that.

Lets say your kick is track 1, and so you route track 1 to the left hand output, and tracks 2-6 to the right hand output.

If you have any reverb in tracks 2-6, I think it will appear on track 1 as well, as its a stereo reverb.

That may end up sounding nice, or it might sound rubbish. You might end up needing to turn all reverb off, and then have an external reverb unit for tracks 2-6.

Good just to play and experiment though.
