Value proposition of two used Octatrack MKIIs?

Hi guys, thank your for all the opinions and advice!

I described the considerations to the seller of the newer device and he was willing to offer me a favourable price. I went out that night and had a good look at the device. The condition is absolutely mint and a like-new decksaver is included. I hadn’t expected it, but I have become (and hopefully will remain) a happy owner of the OT – even faster than I had expected. :sunglasses:

In total, everything has cost me 1000 Euros, which I think is fair for the condition of the device with the decksaver. I have a very good feeling after buying, which is always very important to me.

Now it’s time for me to start experimenting with the audio and midi routing and then I’ll try it out straight away and make some music.

Thanks again and have a great Sunday!

too expensive IMO

Cool, I think it’s a good price for a mint condition OT + decksaver!

Go slowly, work on one aspect at a time, add to a todo list the aspects you feel like you need to dig in later.

First steps

First make sure you know how to load samples in memory and play them.
Static + timestretch off, possibly slices, these are my favorite settings. Parts are a bit like Analog series Kits, but you are limited to 4 different Parts per Banks.

To setup sampling, best option is imo to take the time to understand the two first pages of recording setup.

Any way to record more than 64 steps? - #5 by imacactus

This way recording is synchronized.

Last “first step” would be understanding Scenes and crossfader, I guess.

Move it

If you ever need to bring it at a friends’ place for jamming, my own recommendation is to put it in a tote bag that you put in a Thomann producer bag.

Have fun!

I think so too. Also because I have a 2-year dealer warranty and a 30-day right of return (which of course I don’t intend to use).

Yes, that makes sense. I’m also reading through the manual diligently.
Thank you for the tips and wishes

I guess this is technically true, but not a big deal if you buy from trustable people and keep their contact. I once sold an ST and about a year after, I got a mail from Musicstore how to send in my ST for repair. I then saw that someone sent me another mail saying they bought the ST used from the guy I sold it too and it had some issue. I just sent the person the info on how to send in their ST and they did so and Musicstore sent it to them.
