This is a good topic, and not really exclusively covered elsewhere. I opened the topic a little to alternative keyboards, if they’re good then include them, though very often they will be isomorphic, so go ahead and talk about isomorphic controllers.
( Isomorphic Keyboard Defined – a keyboard where any sequence or combination of musical notes has the “same shape” on the keyboard wherever it occurs. )
Let’s talk about keyboards easily obtainable, rather than some interesting historic arrangement, so usually that means currently sold.
alexwasashrimp had some really good suggestions.
I will add :
- Striso board
- Lumatone, if you have an enormous budget
- Akuto Chord Machine when/if it is completed
It would really be nice to have other controllers, larger than the Launchpads, Exquis, Akuto, and Striso, but still affordable ( like under 1000 ). Prices really shoot up with the larger interfaces.
Check out the Alternative Keyboard Thread which has in addition lots of the historic examples, and a little less useful a post in the MPE controller thread where i make a futile attempt to list all the MPE hardware controllers. Look at the Type C controllers in that post.
There are others.
