What is the cheapest poly synth that can do stereo unison spread of voices?

I’m thinking of getting a deepmind 6 but from the demos I’m not sure it has the feature mentioned in the title.

I love software synths that can detune voices AND spread them across the stereo field. They sound so big!

So I’m wondering what’s the least I can spend to get this with hardware?

the Blofeld will likely be one of the less expensive devices and it has a very flexible voice handling engine afaicr

Thanks, I’ll take a look.

MicroMonsta 2 can have 6 voices unison, detuned and spread.

Wouldn’t that reduce it to three voices?

Yes, of course, thanks. Hopefully they’ll resume shipping to the UK at some point.

So, if I want this feature in an analogue synth…?

Whether the synth itself appeals is one matter, but if you took my word and looked at the manual it wouldn’t be obvious, but the Blofeld has two filters which can run parallel or serial and each filter output can be panned/modulated by a number of modulation sources - the list of sources is in the PDF, the one (of many) to offer interesting options is Unisono Voice - it’ll spread Dual or 3-6 voices across the width

Dave Smith has voice Pan Spread in the Prophet '08 and presumably works in unison mode and might be in other devices from DSI/Sequential

I did take a quick look. It can do what I’m after but first impressions were that the workflow isn’t what I’m after. I will investigate further though as some videos can be off-putting.

I’m guessing it will be serious money to get this in an analogue synth… :sunglasses:

The A4 can be tricked into doing this too - you can play poly on one track and use the voice configurations from other tracks - just vary each voice a bit and set the pan across the range

It’s hard to get that degree of 'spread where each voice is slightly different and at different pan positions - very rich, and analogue - and more besides

don’t be fooled by ‘only 4’ voices though

The Deepmind can do stereo spread, with or without unison.

Annoyingly, a lot of the presets make use of this feature.

Oh right, I need to go back and look at some more videos. The deepmind is in my price range :+1: From what I had heard so far the stereo spread seemed to be coming from the fx. I will be glad to be wrong

Actually it’s built into the A4, no need to do it by hand. Set poly mode to unison, dial in detune and spread to taste

@16:30 min he’s showing the unison mod. Blofeld is great!

The deepmind has a stereo VCA. If you select the edit button beneath the VCA level slider, one of the screen options is Pan-Spread amount.

Yes, sounds lovely. I will investigate further.

Thanks I’ll do some more listening.

The deepmind 6 does do this, thanks. I found this video by oscillatorsink that illustrates it nicely for anyone else who is interested
