Whats your sound reference when you test speakers or headphones?
Previously on Elektronauts:
…gesaffelstein’s aleph album, massive attack’s mezzanine album, dvorac’s 9th performed by berlin philharmonics conducted by kubelic, pretty much all of mr. oizo, lorn, atomic heart, koze, late deichkind, lot’s of ivy lab and eprom eprom eprom…
but end of the day, only U can judge by the stuff u really know already pretty well from various different sonic scenarios…and just make sure ur picks crossing some different genre sources…
That’s using that mixing to pink noise trick right?
Perfume’s “Laser Beam” and “Generator” by Bad Religion
Floating Points’s album Crush - so much detail, really well mixed, lots of dynamics
Can’t Buy a Thrill.
Yello
Love these topics.
in a similar vein, Depeche Mode’s Ultra.
Tim Simenon made that album absolutely glow with energy and seemingly (per username) tuuuubes.
Had to sell a Thermionic Culture The Swift EQ once and regret that I won’t ever be able to find it again at what I sold it for ;(
Mostly these two:
Machine Gun from Portishead for its sub bass. On some smaller or cheaper monitors you can’t even hear them. Then the 1st track from the album Nowhere by the band Ride. It’s such a busy track and such an amazing production. A good monitor will give you the separation you need for each instrument.
