In my opinion, the usb 3.0 micro b connection is the most unstable in terms of mechanical stress since USB was invented. The first thing that always gave up on almost all the hard drives and USBs that I had with this connection was this damned and far too delicate connection.
Same with the overhub. It lasted me a year with moderate use before the USB 3 functionality was defective and then nothing worked at all. Either it’s broken solder points or a part has broken directly in the socket…
Is there any information about an USB C version?
I also find it really annoying that i have to search for a suitable power supply by my selve. Why not put X amount on it and include the right power supply?
…i have the second gen overhub in use since ages and it never failed me…
can’t name the main usb connectror type exactly, really lost track with all these usb formats, but that with this little extra nudge, as to be found on overhubs back, is indeed pretty solid, while the common usb c port ends up too loose for stable connection far earlier, in my experience…
since my overhub gets buspowered and works properly that way, it never crossed my mind to feel the need for further power solutions…
and overhub is the only hub/dongle i ever needed since in use here…
seems ike, as usual and a pretty common thing to consider, personal experiences and expectations can differ quite a lot…
