Will new tariffs raise synthesizer/gear prices?

Be thankful that you’re still experiencing a strong dollar. It’s still nearly as strong as ever which should be felt on foreign purchases as good as anytime. If that were to slide again then that could hit prices as much or more than tarriffs.

hard to say. I hope not. I want some new gear once I can offload the unused stuff.

Will new tariffs raise synthesizer/gear prices?

Implementing everything promised would make everything more expensive, yes.

The people begging for this either work in industries completely unaffected or will tolerate this to destroy competitors. Or they’re financially illiterate magical thinkers that seek out chaos that will benefit them in their imagination.

NOTE: LET’S NOT GO POLITICAL IN HERE

Tariffs are a political act, national/international economic results are political.

Yeah, there’s really no way to pretend that politics aren’t politics.

I believe now is the time to start purchasing the equipment you can afford to have. I was going to wait till 2025 to purchase most my wishlist, but quickly switched my mindset once things started getting closer to the election date. I can’t see myself buying anything other than microphones in 2025. I fear that alot of music hardware will be in “forget it” territory when it comes to price.

I also fear for the music hardware companies. I really don’t want to see more crumble or sell off because BS like this. Building synths in the USA can be very expensive.

But we’ll make China pay for it!! Just like how Mexico paid for the wall!

Bingo. But then how can you expect anyone to know about the economy or anything else when there are no more trade magazines, local newspapers, or journalists, and no one trusts any kind of experts?

I live in a fairly large city and our last local paper just shuttered. This will be the age of grift and graft.

Prices are stupid high atm for instruments(except Behringer). The last few years have been astronomical.

Yeah I mean whether it’s crypto dorks or nationalism the rhetoric matches the aesthetic but ultimately there’s a lot of disaffected losers that are fine punishing themselves more for the illusion of harming whatever imaginary enemies more.

Effective deregulation replacing the idea of businesses releasing products with investment banking (at best) and countless thousands of unlicensed casinos and bucket shops for lonely men to pretend to be masters of capital at while joining cults/mystery sects on Reddit.

Spending less time online more and more is a necessity for my sanity.

At the risk of getting political, keep in mind that politicians rarely keep promises. Particularly former reality show hosts.

He’s kept all of his promises, they just didn’t all go through when they ran up against a patriot, that’s not the same as not keeping promises… he gave the orders, will anyone refuse to follow them this time?
Likely not.

Tariffs will either make things less expensive or more expensive, most Americans don’t realize who is actually paying the Tariff… but no matter what if everything else becomes more expensive but he can manage to lower the price of eggs, then things will stay expensive.

I do make a smashing omelette to be fair.

Tariffs are only acceptable if they nuke income tax as well

Presumably tariffs are percentage of border price not retail price?

I knew a girl named Tara! She had cats and liked weed! She was cool!

So is this like import duty? Here in the UK prices have generally always been much higher than the US due to import duty, I think in Australia they are even higher.

Sort of, but tagged to specific countries, for policy reasons, rather than non-specific revenue ones.

That will almost certainly destroy the economy.

How so? America thrived during the first ~100 years with tariffs and zero income tax. Possibly one of the greatest periods of growth the world has ever seen.

They will, for billionaires. People don’t vote for this with any degree of financial literacy, just magical thinking to everyone’s detriment.

You assign tariffs as the reason. I don’t know, maybe slavery ?
