Hello electro friends,
would you like to review this electro track? I would appreciate feedback and criticism!
The path between hypnotic monotony and boredom is a narrow one. I’m not sure if I’m still on that path.
Thanx!

I like where you took this one. I’d like to hear a bit more panning in the hihat from time to time, perhaps not for the entire track though. In context I don’t think that this track suffers from monotony, but the hihat is such a constant, it could be rather dynamic to randomize (or orchestrate) the panning a little deeper.

I found this one well put together, all the sounds seem to fit into the pocket together. Could you list what you used to make the track? Is it done in the DAW exclusively?

I like it.

Very hypnotic for an elektro track, liked the little subtleties of all the vocal samples, they really worked well.

All the drum sounds are nicely mixed, liked the synth.

Banging tune really.

One thing I’d probably do is maybe try and squeeze a bit more bass in there. Maybe open up the decay on the kick a bit or run it through a bit of high pass filter with resonance just enough to bring a little extra low end heft. Or maybe just a really low subby bassline just low in the mix or something. Also, that transition at about 3:40 felt just a bit off. Maybe that’s what you’re going for, but it’s just something I noticed.

Not to say it’s not a great track as it is, just a few thoughts about what I might do if it was my track.

This track is done with a Digitakt, Digitone and a Hydrasynth.
I only added some reverb & compression with Bitwig afterwards.

Yes you are right, the hiHats are too static.

Keep at it, sounds good. Also nice to see that it’s almost all hardware.

Good point with the bass. The initial idea was, that the main synth is a bass. But after hours of friggling sound design i came up with this creaky/crispy (?) synth and totaly forgot about bass.
Will try your suggestion!

Yes, i love this dawless idea, but for recording and some finishings i started to use Bitwig. But only until i can afford to buy some extra hardware for this like an Analog Heat, Oto Boum or similar stuff.

A brake/electric hybrid. Good idea!
Maybe vary the kick regularly (pitch or filter). Reminds me a little of “like a Tim”

Pitching the kick? Never tried this

“like a Tim” ? Googling didnt help.

The quest for the right gear is a never ending battle,
uphill battle of course
