Your favorite ableton devices, racks, M4L or any other settings you thoroughly enjoy using in ableton

Holy smokes, this thing is mapped to Push like a boss! Thank you so much for posting it! I’m not sure I would have found it otherwise.

Edit: loads just fine in Push 3 in Standalone mode but it doesn’t seem to send any data to to the instrument on the Track. Bummer. So close! Will reach out to developer…

Someone developed a device called ASA (Ableton Smart Assistant) so you can pilot Ableton with vocal commands:

I guess with 12 around the corner, I’ve been thinking slightly less about things like MIDI randomisation as it looks like Ableton is bringing a lot to the party with the new update.

For now though, I’m using Sting - not for it’s intended purpose as a Acid bassline generator, but as a perc randomiser. Works pretty well sat in front of a drum rack.

The other bits that caught my eye were in the mix & mastering space, partly because Ableton hasn’t done much in that area for 12.

This is a groop of retro colour mixing devices.

And this clipper caught my eye too.

This might be obvious to everyone else since it’s a built in synth, but I’ve just recently started exploring the sustained noise as the exciter in collision, can create some really interesting sounds that I haven’t really discovered in other synths.

oh ı’m very excited for this but its really expensive. i could give ableton a name and talk to it hahahah.

Slinky Filter A filter bank that is internally modulated. The modulation wave model is inspired by water and you can control different aspects it, like how the ripples move through it etc. They also have Slinky LFO and Slinky Midi which break out the wave part for modulation or midi note generation. Three different stereo modes. Really great for granular stuff, pads etc.

Cellular Degradation Hard to control, but it can spit out crazy stuff.

I could listen for hours to Cellular Degradation and Slinky Filter doing their thing (+ a bit of reverb).

Any news on this front?

Nope. No time. Feel free to reach out to the dev.

Is there a way to record audio into Ableton the way you sample into a DT or Rytm? Can you do a recording that requires audio to hit a certain threshold to start the recording?

Thanks!!!

I haven’t found this device yet, and I really regret my MPC for this kind of stuff.

Thresho is a Max for Live device that does something similar:

Thresho is a utility that records up to 4 stereo audio inputs automatically based on a user-defined db threshold. Once the audio reaches that threshold, Thresho begins recording; once the audio drops below the threshold, and the ‘decay’ period has been completed, it stops recording.

The timestamped file is then, by default, imported into the user’s ‘User Library’ within ableton’s sidebar for easy access within other projects.

There’s a new update for a m4l device that I’ve enjoyed in the past, P_4L II. It’s basically the Plaits oscillators (Mono and Poly iterations) wrapped up in a tidy, thoughtful interface with a ton of flexibility and built-in modularity. The Gumroad page has all the details.

I tried this yesterday and it’s amazing. Really easy to get great sounds, and it probably makes my 0-Coast obsolete.

This seems like the most appropriate thread, out of the various M4L or Ableton threads, to post

this being 303 day I did some searching for Ableton instruments/racks/devices for 303 sounds, using only Live/Live Suite devices/instruments (no AU, no VST). This looks cool

Don’t forget Lode by Fors. Free and, while not trying to be an absolutely perfect 303 emulation, very much has the right vibe.

someone made a CamelCrusher replica, supposed to be same exact dsp, should be compatible with older Live versions that have Max

This was likely posted before, but Elephnt just posted on IG that they’ve updated their list of “m4l curated collection” of m4l plugs. Great recommendations and also a number of free ones on there as well.

Just downloaded and installed Rift by Rainbow Circuit this evening. I’ve only played with it for about an hour, but so far I’m pretty pumped! It’s fun and easy to make some great timbres. For US$34, I have no regrets.

That someone (killihu) also made Sequencer-Ki, which is my favorite step sequencer.

Just gonna throw the most boring shit in here. I have pro-q3, pro-q4, lots of other eqs. end up using eq 8 all the time. It’s just so simple, lightweight, and works for most of the things I want to achieve.
