Your modulars (Part 1)

New jam with the Tracker and the modular

This is my current plan for a sampled percussion- & rhythm-focused rack with heavy use of clock and gates, controlled by my MPC Live 2.
The audio source would be the Morphagene, filled with samples from vinyl records or synths. Audio manipulation would be done by the Percall and the two filters. CV would be done by the Doepfer dual VCA and S&H/Noise-module as well as Batumi and Pip Slope.
Any suggestions or bland mistakes?
I know that some of you would suggest PNW or Squid Sample. I currently own the PNW and despite being such a deep module, it would be too deep for my intention and too reliant on menu-diving. Same with the Salmple.

I used to have a Salmple, but sold it for an OT. Loving the OT, sync it with modular with PNW in my case and sample 64 steps into OT then do the transition trick with slider. Vary your beat again, transition to it, sample and repeat. Hours of fun. Just can’t do that on Salmple.

Question for the more experienced modular heads here. How ā€œnormalā€ is oscillator tuning drift? I feel like I am constantly having to tweak the fine tuning on my System 80 810 VCO even after it’s been on for >1hr and I’d expect it to have reached a stable temperature.

Are some VCOs just better or worse for this?

Before I bought the MPC Live 2 the OT mk1 was my main machine for years
I could use it more with my current rack, but I want to have a rack with high immediacy, where the audio and modulation connections are visible and easily changed by hand.
There are probably a lot machines that are much more powerful, but I want to get away from all that menu diving I had in the past

My DPO stays in tune as long as I don’t mess with it. I’ll work on a patch for a week or more and double check tuning before recording and its pretty much always still in tune.

Hey, wondering if any of you could confirm for me,
In order to make the Moog dfam duophonic you would need the two osc of the dfam, the dfam filter and an additional filter for osc 2, and an additional vca and envelope generator for triggering the two notes separately
I’m thinking about controlling this with a Digitakt and endorphins shuttle control.

Here’s the current version. It doesn’t really change much these days. Not anymore at least

Finally started building my case! This is my first jam :upside_down_face:

Short shot from a little jam I had this morning using mostly my Verbos rig (even tho most of the work is done by the Make Noise QMMG here)

Nice! Elektrons pair quite well with modular systems. A good eurorack sequencer is super expensive so using my OT and A4 saves me 3k plus in change for the new Vector sequencer and WMD Performance mixer and case to put them in plus FX and modular drums. I did manage to get a cool drum beat going with a single Noise Engineering BIA module- that thing is a beast!

I do need to get another MIDI to CV box to use with my new modular build as the one for the first case is a pain to use. Thinking the external MIDI to CV box is the way to go as it is small and portable and no space used in my setups.

I am thinking a lot about recreating the Madrona Labs Aalto in eurorack format, this is what I’ve come up with, I already own all the modules except the Mimeophon and 2hp Verb, do you guys think this is a good idea?

New jam with some modular acid and weird noises

I would love to add the new Verbos Foundation Oscillator to my setup.

especially the new Disting EX for the win. On my holiday shopping list along with Pamela New Workout, Matrix Mixer, and ALM Boss Bow Two switcher. Then I can have infinite modulation sequencer options with my two racks and Elektrons for years. Would love the new ALM Coupe modular system and Make Noise Shared System Plus. If I can scrape up an extra 7k and space to keep it. Eurorack is seriously expensive!

smart- plus MPC Live has CV routing without the need for MIDI and OT does not. Besides lack of Overbridge, the biggest flaw with OT is no CV connectivity. Still love my OT but need CV support. Glad my A4 has it.

You can save a TON and just get the fancy-pansy modules and what have you, if you use FH2 or ES8 with Silent Way or Blocks or VCV, MAX, Softube to get all your LFOs, ENVs, Functions Etc…

More room in the rack :+1:t6:

I like using both- modular for some and A4/OT for others like clock, sequencer, FX and so forth. Been really enjoying the new IME Kermit MK3 that module does everything from LFO, VCO, envelopes, noise, S&H it is almost like a mini Elektron box for modular. Here is a jam I came up with today messing around with it:

With my simple modular setup and 2 Elektrons the possibilities are endless!

I made a long-form video demo/tutorial about how I usually go about when patching my modular; laying the basis of a techno track in the process. It was quite a fun exercise and I hope you’ll find a few interesting information. No groundbreaking patching technique here, juste a nice, jammable modular system :
